Detour Cafe Hamilton

I enjoyed a couple lattes and butter croissant at the John Street location. Very friendly service by Erin and inviting atmosphere. Good espresso and baked goods.

I got confused by the sign outside talking about securing a table but apparently it just means that you should find a table before ordering if you intend to eat/drink in the cafe.I was rather obviously autistic that day and the barista person was being extra nice it seemed and that was nice and she was patient with my many questions. Decaf cappuccino was dope with nice foam, though I would recommend drinking it as soon as possible because it’s a delicate foam. Their espresso is rather sweet I find, which I think is pretty cool. Their decaf beans that you can purchase are a little acidic for me, but that just means I need to make them into cold brew eheh.The bread I bought was of really high quality! Not super into fruity bits in my bread but if you like that kinda thing it was a real fancy version of that.

Incredible service and incredible baristas who always create a welcoming environment (shout out to Mel, Joe and Lauren!). They're folks that truly care about the customer experience and making sure you're getting exactly what you ask for. Good vibes all around, thanks to the people behind the bar.

Friendly staff, Detour Coffee is a favorite, and, that's what they serve. Made a delicious flat white and fresh cake.Would recommend for dine-in service and coffee gear as well as a place for loafs of fresh baked bread.

New management at this location is a complete mess.All they’ve done is raise prices, yet the quality of the coffee and environment has gone down hill.They’ve also fired the only barista that is a person of colour.As someone who is also a POC, the environment is extremely white and not welcoming to others who may not conform to the norm.Mallory is great and the only reason I keep going back.

The ambiance of this coffee shop is delightful, aligning well with the expectations of a cozy and inviting space. With its bright atmosphere and well-arranged seating, the establishment provides a comfortable environment for patrons to relax and enjoy their beverages.Although the lemon loaf cake and hot chocolate I ordered did not meet my expectations, with the latter seeming to have an off-taste as if the milk had gone bad, the customer service was commendable. The staff, particularly the hardworking and friendly barista, contributed positively to the overall experience.

A bright and snug cafe with sourdough based pastries/bread from Dear Grain Commissionary. Loved how they also have a selection of eclectic pantry goodies along their walls. Their coffee was great as well.A bit surprised that they do not have free wifi here though. No outlets here either, if you’re looking to charge a laptop and study.

Great experience! Tried Detour Cafe and I absolutely loved everything from the vibe of the shop to the actual coffee… great tasting coffee and the person to help me was VERY warm and welcoming (she was also very helpful and knowledgeable).

Very chic and warm coffee shop! Definitely coming back. I had the cappuccino and it was amazing! Very friendly and welcoming barista. Very tiny space and when busy very tight to move around in able to look at everything they have to offer. Careful with the door it doesn’t close Nice.

Delicious coffee with excellent customer service.My wife and I stopped by for a date and I was pleasantly surprised: The barista, Remy, was knowledgeable, friendly, and made a delicious flat white. The cafe itself is quaint and decorated in a retro style that I’m a huge fan of. The porcelain cups the drinks were served in were also a nice touch that I really appreciated.For home brewers, this cafe has an assortment of brewing equipment and freshly roasted coffee beans on hand.I can’t get enough of this place and I’m excited to drop in again.
