This is a fantastic club with 2 fabulous karate teachers! Both Sensei Kyle and Kar-Lai really take the time to teach the students both in karate skills and personal life development. Both my children benefits from their teachings and this has provided a grounding basis for their future endeavours. I highly recommend this club for your children.

This club is the real deal. The way Kyle Sensei teaches his classes are always involved and very focused. I love this club.I am new to karate and found the atmosphere and instruction very encouraging and motivating.Kyle is a great sensai, using many different approaches he finds a way to teach each technique and has helped me overcome any obstacles I have come to.The club is warm and welcoming and I would encourage anyone who is interested to join.

A super friendly, welcoming and supportive club. Kyle Sensei and Kar-Lai Sensei are excellent instructors who ensure that training sessions are fun, challenging, and safe, no matter what age you are or your experience level.Classes are well-structured and well-paced, covering fundamental karate techniques, kata, and kumite, while also mixing in other elements including fitness, self-defence, judo tachiwaza and newaza randori. Great training, nice people, and a good sweat!

My daughter has studied with Kyle sensei for over five years. He is an experienced, attentive, and kind leader of children. The atmosphere encourages the building of camaraderie and genuine relationships. I would highly recommend giving this club a try!

I trained here for the two years that I lived in Vancouver after moving from Wales. Sensei Kyle’s teaching was fantastic and the atmosphere of the club was very welcoming, encouraging you to push yourself and reach new heights not just in karate but in all aspects of your life. I could not recommend this club highly enough, not just for the quality of the teaching and the impressive improvements you will notice in your karate, but also for the sense of community that is evident as soon as you walk through the doors.

Had a great experience here when I was training. The karate was a great mix of traditional martial arts and self defence/fitness. They were great with beginners, and in my case they were super accepting with me even though I came from a different karate background.I would recommend giving this a try if you want a well rounded experience that keeps you active and teaches karate at the same time.

Being a part of Kumakai Karate for the last 6 years has literally changed my life. I had always been interested in fitness, but prior to Kumakai, had never found a physical activity that inspired me to set and achieve goals over the long term. Kyle Sensei emphasizes the practical aspect of karate to make it applicable in real life situations and for self defence. Also he encourages his students to cross train in other styles and other martial arts, so we often incorporate techniques from judo and jujitsu in class. It is always interesting and stimulating. There are students of all ages and abilities in the club, and there is a real feeling of community and friendship. Whether you've done martial arts in the past, or you just want to try something new, I would unreservedly recommend Kumakai Karate.

If you’re looking for a great dojo look no further! Everyone here treats you like family and it’s such a great atmosphere. Sensei Kyle is extremely knowledgeable, malleable to your specific needs, patient and a great teacher. This is a great dojo for all levels of experience and age!
