Steven has known me since I was 12 years old and I'm 33 years old now. I have never been to a shop where I felt more confident in the information that I've been given about my instruments but I bring him. He's extremely knowledgeable about different models of instruments and makers and a wealth of knowledge about historical facts as well. Steven takes a lot of time with all of his clients so I have no problem with waiting a little bit for him to finish up talking. He's very social and enjoys chatting and I love listening to his stories. His setups are great for the instruments, my family has been using his services for the past 20 years with no complaint

Steve is very helpful and willing to provide advice about modifying or restoring violins. He's very modest about accepting payment for parts. He's quite funny, and has a wealth of industry knowledge.I believe he favours restoring and selling in-house, quality violins, rather than fixing cheap instruments.

Thank you for your advice.For anyone who is looking him up for the first time online, he is very knowledgeable but retiring and not taking new clients.You should probably look elsewhere for help, which I say not to detract business negatively from his shop in any way but because it is the unfortunate truth.

Steve needs to stop bad-mouthing other people, when he has no solid facts and the people he's criticizing are not there to defend themselves. Watch the new/newer instruments you buy from his shop, as most of them are Chinese and he will tell you they are made in Czech Republic or Germany. If you ask him for proof, he'll be speechless.He might have a big heart but can be unprofessional and dishonest. Not impressed.
