Prices for lettuce and all other produce is way way cheaper than grocery stores. Everything is so fresh. Love shopping here.

Chatting briefly with the cashier about life. I didn't get her name, but she's been there for as long as I have been going to the store. She is a South American lady. She always has something witty to say. Service is always great there, by all. Good fruit and vegetables... Good place to shop.......

I asked for a big bag of beets a few weeks back. I assumed, like most things at Produce Depot, the price would be reasonable. When I got to the checkout with my 24 lb bag of beets they told me it would be 25$ (over a 1$ a lb). I was too stunned to say anything. These were not high quality beets - they were very big beets with not much taste. I was at the grocery store a few days later and saw a 10 lb bag of small beets for $3.99 (less than $0.40 a lb). Produce depot charged me 250% more for a lower quality product. Generally you expect if you buy the bigger bag, it would be less.I have been shopping at Produce Depot weekly for about 30 years and they have always been a great place to shop. This experience has left my with a bad taste in my mouth (not just from the bad beets).

They have a great variety of vegetables and fruit, some are hard to find in other grocery stores. The price is affordable as well. Their meat and fish are very fresh and affordable too. I'll definitely come here more often.

Large variety of produce and other grocery items at fair prices. Keeps me away from going to Loblaws. Overall good place to buy groceries!

EDIT: as of springtime the rack is back! Thank you! :DMy favourite grocery store in the city. Open late but not too late! Incredible amount of both unique and standard produce available and the prices are actually still very tolerable. Not sure why reviews are saying things aren’t fresh, i have never had that issue and the food looks bright and fresh when I’ve been in there, meat included.Unfortunately they seem to have removed their bicycle rack? Not sure if this is just for the winter or not (closest seems to be over at thyme & again, which is a little sketchy at night when it’s closed with all the lights off and PD is still open), but it does make it a bit more difficult to carry more than a backpack-full of groceries. I promise there are indeed people who bike to stores in the winter, PD!

Produce depot has the widest selection of fruit and veg of any place I've been to in the city. Strange, new, and all the usual produce and all very fresh. Good cheese and fish too.

Amazing selection of fruits and vegetables from all over the world. Very reasonable prices considering the rarity of some of the produce. I would definitely recommend a visit if you're in Ottawa!

Great grocery store for fresh produce and fish! Prices are fair and often less than your typical big box grocery store. The store is small enough that you can grab all the items you need without getting lost in multiple isles and crowds — makes for a quick shop which is most ideal!
