Wow, I am blown away by the amazing customer service and work these guys do! I brought my well used commuter bike into them for some repairs and a tune and I cannot believe the difference. I feel like it rides better than it did when I first got it! Plus, all the work was completed in a few hours so I did not miss out on my commute. I cannot recommend Straight Up Cycles enough :) Thanks for the amazing work!

I've been getting my bike services from Tim, Jerry, and his team for a good number of years now. I'm always happy with their services. I just got my annual bike tuned up today. They did such a beautiful job that my bike ran like a horse when I rode it back home from work tonight. I'm very impressed by their kindness, efficiency, flexibility, and reasonable price. I went in to Straight Up Cycles this morning looking to get a new bike and I had lots of questions. I spoke with Tim. Tim spent over an hour talking to me about different options that they have and I conveyed to him what I was looking for to meet my needs. He answered my questions, shared his knowledge, and explained things that I didn't understand. After all that time, Tim, confessed that their bike shop does not quite have what I'm looking for and he made some suggestions on where I could go to have a better chance of getting my kinda bike. I was not manipulated into buying something that I wasn't looking for, but rather, it became a 'consult' that benefitted me. That was a breath of fresh air to say the least! Once I get the bike that I'm looking for I'll be going back to these guys to do all of my servicing, accessory purchases, etc. If you're looking for a business that cares about what they do, and servicing the bike community that's around them, then I'd suggest you go to these folk. I'll be going back to them for sure.

Guys took me in on a moments notice, to do a difficult wheel true on a very rare 1980 Kuwahara bmx. They did an amazing job! Way above and beyond expectations. I trust them with any job after seeing them work. Really great price on the bill too I might add. Very reasonable!

One of the best bike shops in BC with a great crew of friendly staff. large supply of gear, great mechanics, and sweet bikes for sale ranging from townies to race bikes.

Not only was I able to get an appointment in fairly quickly, but when I picked up my bicycle every issue was fixed or reccomended for future fix to save money until it was necessary. I could tell right away the passion and quality of workmanship! A+, definetly reccomend this shop, worth every penny. Great advice on upgrades too!

Straight Up Cycles delivers amazing mechanics service, and genuine and judgement-free customer service. As someone who has worked in the bike industry in Vancouver in shops, as well as through nonprofit work supporting at-risk youth looking for employment in the bike mechanics industry, I am well-versed in the improvements that are needed in the bike industry. Many people feel like going to bike shops is daunting, because they have experienced sales staff and mechanics essentially making fun of their bikes, acting pretentious towards them, or assuming they don't know something about their bikes because of their gender, or because they aren't a white guy.I took my mountain bike in for a brake bleed, and the service upon intake and pickup were wonderful. I recently moved to Victoria for school and am not familiar with the mountain biking around here, and after I asked, Tim and Richie took the time to thoroughly recommend me some trails and ways of finding mountain biking community. The price for the blake bleed was also reasonable, and they even wiped down my dirty bike (fresh from some riding on Fromme in vancouver over the break). As I left, Tim went to get the door for me so it was more accessible for me to walk out, with my mountain bike. It's these little but big things that show they care, and it makes the experience for the customer that much more comfortable and happy. My partner and I both own two bikes each, both of which we have built up ourselves, and I will continue to recommend Straight Up cycles to my friends as a safe space that offers high-quality mechanics work, and sincere customer service.Also, bike mechanics are highly skilled and creative people that need to be able to problem solve effectively and also ideally have great interpersonal skills for customer service (which is hard to find!). and Canada currently does not have a certification system for bike mechanics, which means that they don't have great wage protection (it will vary from shop to shop of course, but this means that there's no systematic way to guarantee that a bike mechanic that has improved their skills through there x amount of years working in the industry, will be able to get a certain set wage increase). So please be kind and patient with bike mechanics, and also if it is within your means, please tip when you can!

I'm preparing for my first long bike tour this summer. From the time I bought my bike at the shop, through all of my preparations, and up to the week before I leave, these guys have been exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable, and generous. As an inexperienced cyclist rolling into a pretty big trip, the support of the folks at Straight Up Cycles has been excellent, and leaves me feeling confident and well-prepared for the journey.
