partner’s parents were looking to adopt a cat, we filled the application out and never heard back from anyone on wether it was approved or even declined. they constantly post about animals needing new homes but make it so difficult for a retired couple to adopt a cat. you have to jump through somany hoops in order to be “considered,” and even then the process is extremely inconvenient.we applied through a different rescue (who’s application was much easier to fill out and understand), we were approved and had the kitten home within two days.make your application process easier and maybe then you won’t have so many animals looking for good, forever loving homes! these animals are the ones losing out big time.DO NOT recommend this organization!!!

Always have the animals best interest at heart. They really care for them. We adopted Taz (Lab mix) back in March 2019. Process is a bit long, but they just want to make sure that this will be the dog/cats forever home. They are well worth the wait and effort. Hat's off to all the staff and volunteers here!!

Horrible people. My parents asked for help whenthere dog got sick help and they took my parents dog of 14 years. The rehomed her to live her last days with strangers. Plus people that used to work there have stated they take all the good donations form themselves and leave the junk food for the dogs in the shelter. I would recommend going anywhere else and never ask these people for any kind of help.

They are not honest about pets up for adoption. Having the right information on a dogs breed is what potential adopters (and the animal) need! Shame on SJSPCA for being shady and deleting comments and blocking anyone who offers the proper information needed for any animal that was dropped off there hoping for a loving home. The word being that this place doesn’t have a good reputation is very true.

Well I was unaware you needed 20 forms of identification. So I went in with the hopes of seeing the animals and picking the right one In person. I understand it stresses the animals but it also gives them affection and a chance at a new home, the lpady told us we aren't allowed to interact with the animals and have to jump through hoops just to see one... this policy needs to change as we came to extend our family and bring an animal into our family

All of our pets come from the Saint John SPCA. We are also volunteers with the organization. Helping with fundraising events, dog walking and also fostering. The staff are incredible. They give a tremendous amount of care.

The staff here is amazing. We appreciate all you do for the animals. If anyone reading this is looking for a new family member to love (dog or cat), please check them out. They take such great care of the pets dropped off. It is a wonderful shelter and clean. Of course they are looking for donations, so if you can help in any way, please do. Thank you so much. I hope those beautiful cats and dogs find homes. We have a rescue cat and she is simply amazing! I highly recommend rescues as they are often so full of love and appreciate their humans for saving them. Good luck! :)
