Gamal is an architect, painter, hairdresser, and more. If you haven't seen his work in person, you are absolutely missing out! This store is an art gallery, gives you plenty to look at during your visit.Try having your hair dressed by an architect, it's quite efficient! I have never given a ONE STAR to any place. I'm almost worried to do this review! It's taken me 3 weeks to finally decide to do it because I'm actually still upset about the hair appt I made here based on the online reviews it had.First, I believe the owner is probably great at doing men's hair cuts & hence the good reviews. But the day I went there, 2 other ladies left very upset about their highlights & I was the 3rd! I am in my 50's so i think I know enough about hair cuts and highlights.I went to get MORE dark low lights, I had some from my trip to Calgary a few months ago & at THE NOTORIOUS HAIR GROUP, in Calgary, the owner was amazing ok? My hair was cut, low lighted, all in ONE HOUR.I told the owner of this place that I did not want a hair cut! I was growing out my hair. He insisted that he would cut 1/4 of an inch only from the bottom. I also specifically told him i do NOT want any ORANGE in my hair. I did not have ANY orange when I went to see him.I'm sorry for tbe long story! But i feel compelled to tell other ladies, not to go here! Please. I'm still upset because he bleached out my roots and it hurt like #$%!I'm attaching a couple of pics to show you. I left with bleached out hair with orange high lights. It cost $160 and to be honest I'm furious with myself for paying him. The other 2 ladies that were there paid $160 so I thought that was the price.I was there for FOUR HOURS!He let me come back in 2 days & he tried to fix it. It is not fixed & he was going to charge me again!I am now going to Scissors in Kanata to see if they can fix my hair that I hate right now. I also found out he charged me for a hair cut. I told him i didn't want a hair cut, that is soooo low. Also he will ONLY take CASH!! So if you don't come with cash he will get you to leave your drivers license while you go to the TD bank up the street.You may have seen the another ladies Google review stating he made her hair orange. Trust Google reviews, for the most part.I've heard so many great things about Scissors. This is what happens when you're hasty & go somewhere you've never been & don't do your research. I'm full of regrets because I always do but this Saturday I was in a rush to get low lights.Ladies don't go here for any high lights or low lights. What are the chances of me seeing 2 other ladies leave upset about what he did to their hair? Go to a reputable salon that is current with today's trends. Thanks for listening to MY story.

Haircut was ok after I directed him to cut more. The floor was a mess and covered in hair. It was disgusting. I was the only one in the shop and he did not have clients when I walked in. He was painting. The sign says $17, but he charged me $26. I paid it without complaint. He only takes cash, which I think is fishy. He's a very nice guy, but I won't go back.

I have very fine hair and so far my experience with different salons in Ottawa been very ordinary but today was definitely my day!!Gamal did absolutely amazing job with giving me a cut that I truly loved !!A little expensive though.. 85$ just for a cut!But Otherwise great !

The owner has been cutting my family's hair for over 22 years over 4 generations. He's been cutting my hair since I was a baby. His prices are fair from my experience and he proves his skill each time I come in for a visit. His hair studio doubles as an art gallery with a number of pieces from the east. It's definitely worth the visit for the atmosphere he sets while he cuts your hair.

The Connoisseur is a fantastic place. I've been a loyal customer for more than 14 years and have no plans to change that. I always get the cut that I want and Gamal has a good eye for what suits me. He's always fast and his rates are way better than anywhere I've ever been. A long and proud Ottawa institution you should go to!

The best hair artist. Whenever I come from GTA I always come hair to treat my hair for the best look. Highly recommended

He did a nice job but I feel ripped off. The website says 38 and up" for a woman's haircut. Mine was 85

I always have a great experience here! Gamal does a great job with my hair. The ambience of the hair salon with all of Gamal's art and photography is very special and unlike any other place I've ever been to.
