Suika Japanese Restaurant
Suika has been a personal favourite of mine for about a decade now. Their attention to detail, unbeatable value, and unrelenting consistency in having fantastic dishes brings me back every time. You can just about close your eyes, randomly point at something in the menu, and it will be delicious. Today, I tried their Sansho vegan ramen, which was chocked full of mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and used a kelp based broth, and despite having doubts, the ramen was delicious, and put a smile on my face.My regular favourites include the tuna tartare bowl, the umami bowl, the double tonkatsu set, the yuzu-kara karage bowl, and the uni ikura carbonara udon.Don’t forget about the sides though, their pressed sushi is fantastic, I adore their salmon pressed sushi, and if you’re feeling luxurious, the aburi bluefin tuna pressed sushi is magnificently buttery. They periodically bring the ebiten pressed sushi back, which comes with a delicious truffle infused soy sauce- if you see it, order it.Now, for their drinks. They may not have some hipster mixologist behind the bar, but they do mix fantastic drinks here. We really like their Suika aloe calpico, mojito and gin and tonic- it’s nice that they blend fresh watermelon for them. They’ve also dabbled with other ingredients, and they’ve been great. I also had this delightful basil and ginger gin and tonic recently. As a Japanese run business, I also cannot stress how excellent the service is, and how you will consistently get the enthusiastic greeting as you enter and leave, that comes standard in a Japanese Izakaya.I’ve loved Suika since I first stepped in for lunch in 2013, and they seem to only get better. If you haven’t eaten here yet, I’d strongly recommend giving it a try.

The food and service were phenomenal. Loved the genuine hospitality of the servers.I got the Chirashi Set which was amazing in every bite. They also accommodated my shrimp allergy by making sure to use different utensils to prepare the dish. One of the best/most authentic izakaya you can find in Vancouver. The servers went above and beyond to even open the door for us as we exited. Super Japanese hospitality!

Food 100/10Service 100/10We decided to come here for our anniversary, and our experience was wonderful! We ordered 2 entrees (crab uni udon, steak and rice) 1 yuzu tuna yukke and 1 corn fritter.Personally the portion was quite a lot, or at least not as small as I thought it would be. Perfect for the price point.Everything was very tasty. The fish was super fresh, the udon was very creamy, and the steak melts in my mouth! They also surprised us for our anniversary! They gathered all their staff and wished us Happy Anniversary, with a song, sparklers and everything. Thank you for making our celebration wonderful! It meant a lot to us, and we will definitely come back!!

Lively and Upbeat vibe! Nice to see everyone having fun here! Exceptional service from all the staff including host, server, chef…Their foods were top notch as well. It’s typical Izakaya style= casual foods but everything was done right with great detailed nuance.Especially enjoyed sashimi salad, cold udon, and cubed stake. Oh, can’t forget to mention very delicious mont blanc pudding at the end! Also very much liked their drink menu! This is very thought out list caters from budget to special occasion. Great selection!

We celebrated our friend's birthday here which was really fun! Our server was attentive and friendly. The food was made so that you can share out amongst the group or to yourself. I loved their chicken karaage and ebi mayo! I liked that they had a great selection of drinks. Would come back again!

Suika Japanese Restaurant promises a true Japanese experience with its delightful, flavorful dishes and ebullient staff. The salmon pressed sushi was exceptional, offering a fresh, oceanic thrill, while the garlic edamame and corn cake showcased their culinary artistry in texture and taste. Their birthday celebration, featuring a surprise dimming of lights and a heartwarming song, added a personal touch. Finally, the matcha brulee dessert stole the show with its perfectly balanced sweetness. In summary, Suika is a culinary gem, offering an authentic and memorable Japanese dining experience, deserving of the highest recommendations.

Amazing place! Food is pretty authentic and atmosphere is amazing, good selection of drinks, definitely try the plum wine if you haven’t before, we tried the specials of that day a wagyu beef patty with some sauce and rice that was full of flavour and felt like japanese curry but higher quality than normal. Will recommend the chicken karage, eel with rice bowl and a sushi platter that had a great variety of seafood, everything is fresh and the staff is super friendly, I will definitely return!

Firstly, we made a reservation for 4 but the host seemed really confused and had trouble finding a seat. We had to wait 15minutes while a larger group in front of us who did not have reservations got seated. Also, we had to ask multiple times about order as we did not receive one of the dishes. We ended up cancelling that one. With that out of the way, most of the food is delicious. For dinner we recommend torotoro chashu which was insanely soft, tenderloin sizzling steak which was very tender, the bluefin sashimi speaks for itself, matcha brulee was unique and tasty.Few dishes we did not like: Pork tomahawk was very dry and curry was too basic, wagyu hamburg was steamed and did not look/taste appetizing, the black pork rib was too sweet, and the signature watermelon calpico pitcher was too sweet.

Good variety of options on the menu! Such tasty food at a fairly reasonable price. Lots of daily specials that were fun! Friendly staff all around made it even better.

Visited the place on day 1 for our Vancouver trip. The service is good, waiters are very polite and nice during our dine, and the food is so good. Really like the Uni and Crab meat Carbonara udon. Visited again on our last day, got the udon again, and ordered an extra dessert. It's a frozen Macha Brulee, very nice as well.
