Mike's Tavern on the Nith
We have been excited to try this place since it changed from the Chop House. We loved the food and drinks. Everything was scratch made which was a nice change from typical pub food. But our service was horribly slow. We ordered everything at 530. Our appetizers came fairly quickly but our main course didn’t get delivered until almost 7pm. We heard the waitress tell the neighbouring table who was on their way to a hockey game that the kitchen was backed up and they should be worried about making their game. The owners should have staffed up considering it was a Saturday and the weekend before Valentines and it was a hockey game name.

We ordered take away and this is the first time we have tried since becoming Mike’s Tavern on the Nith. Had a tavern burger and fries and Cranberry walnut salad with chicken. The burger was VERY tasty and a nice portion, definitely homemade. Nice size salad and generous portion of chicken. Will be back!

We always enjoy the wings and buffalo chicken poutine. Take out is easy, and I always enjoy the atmosphere when we dine in.

Food was good but service was slow . We arrived at 6:30, table for six (4 adults, 2 children) and we didn't leave until after 8:30pm.We received our drinks fairly quickly and ordered our food. About an hour later we were all wondering where our server was since our glasses were empty and food hadn't arrived.We had to flag down a different server to inquire about our food and needed more drinks as we never saw ours.Right after that, the server came by and we received our drinks and food. It felt like we were forgotten.Overall, the staff were nice and the food was good. Just the wait time and lack of service really put a damper on the night. And there wasnt many people at the bar or restaurant.It could of been the kitchen was short staffed which I'd understandable but it doesn't explain the lack of service in the dining room.

They just started having breakfast on Sunday! Very good food and the service is super friendly. They also have amazing chicken wings.

We brought our hockey team and parents for lunch between games during a local hockey tournament. The staff was very accommodating and used the player hockey numbers to keep the orders together and the food going to the right table. Thank you for having us!

Mike's Tavern on the Nith
We want the Tavern to succeed, but it is not over the top food for the price. The fries are delicious but not the greasy bits that are at the bottom of the basket that should not be making it to your plate. 2 people had pasta dishes, bland and no seasoning on the chicken breast. The schnitzel bacon/apple butter was delicious and had good flavor. Ideal location, just a few misses on the quality of the food.
