Primo Catering and Events

Initially our experience with Primo was excellent, our food tasting was wonderfully arranged, staff were very helpful, knowledgeable, and eager to please. The planning process leading up to our wedding however I found to be very trying as the proprietors were often on vacation, or vague in their questioning if they required to clarify something. Now I can chalk things up to COVID to a degree as things were very up and down for everyone but I found this business very difficult to deal with. Via email things were often left un answered or at times so over explained in a literal manner I felt is had passed condescending and became an insult to our intelligence. We finally made it to the wedding only to discover that one of the staff members had forgotten their ID, we got married on base, and the catering staff ended up pushing back our meal close to two hours, which through off the photographer, dj etc etc. The staff did not put out silverware for our guests even after I had sent photos of where everything was laid out for their convenience the day prior. The meal was not of the same quality as what we had sampled before. The staff were very messy and didn't not maintain steady housekeeping which resulted in my mother slipping on some spilt food by the food service area and falling into a partition. We had attempted to discuss all of these issues with staff the following day when we went to pick up the left overs however it quickly became heated. My spouse was ignored and had the owner turn her back to her, and we were fed alot of excuses which I did not buy into. Myself and my wife both work high stress jobs and did feel that the price, experience or quality was worth what we had paid. I honestly would not recommend this company for a wedding or large milestone" event. Overall my experience was not a favorable one and I will leave it there. I would prefer not to hear any more excuses from the staff and end here. I leave the ball in anyone else's court and hope that their experience turns out better than ours."

Layla the owner was the most helpful for our office catering. Incredibly helpful and very responsive when we needed anything. Highly recommend!

Three years ago they were set up to cater for my wedding. We booked really early so they didn’t miss out on anything. They got banned from the place we were supposed to get married and didn’t us back our money. Lost 1700$. Scammers

We hired Layla and Ed to do the catering and bartending for our wedding in September 2022. All I can say is thank god we chose them.Layla is such a beast. I honestly felt like she helped plan so many key details of the wedding - timelines, set up, table arrangements…etc.Being so versed and experienced in the wedding industry, she had great suggestions and asked me tons of questions about details I hadn’t even considered - but were important. She was by far our most responsive and involved vendor and was that way from the moment we hired her in December 2021.The food was well worth the price…which was reasonable to start with, and Layla truly worked with our budget and made adjustments to fit in with what we wanted to spend, while not sacrificing quality or experience.The food was simply outstanding and our guests were thrilled. We got so many comments from family and friends about Layla and her staff’s service…especially from people with dietary restrictions …who got basically the royal treatment.We will be back at Soleil’s to reminisce and enjoy the fantastic food.- Scott and Marlee

I’m reading all the others reviews and can’t believe everyone is giving her a good rate. Layla did a terrible job at my daughters wedding. We had appetizers to start and the meatballs were raw in the middle. There was not enough food when the meal was served and it was all served on dollarstore plates. She said she would have lots of cheesecake but only brought out one at a time! I would not recommend them or ever use them again.

Layla and Ed are a absolutely amazing people. They made my wife’s 50th birthday surprise party 100x better. The food was amazing. The selection and quality of the food was second to none. Everyone who was there commented on how great the food was. And Layla and Ed are just great people, personable and honest. I would definitely recommend Primo Catering, but only if you want the best.

Ed and Layla were beyond fantastic. Their team did an incredible job for our wedding, ensuring every little preference, including many food allergies, with such friendly professionalism. Our guests raved about the food! They went above and beyond in the planning right down to the final settling up. We would choose them again in a heartbeat.

So many good things to say about Layla and Ed's company. The staff are professional, they are on time and they go above and beyond to deliver. I received nothing but compliments about the entire set up. Layla was so patient every time I threw a request at her, she was never frustrated and she made sure it was done right. Candice was so friendly the day before when she came to drop off all our place settings, she stayed long enough to show me how to set everything up properly and gave me her personal number if I had any issues. Our bartender stayed late to make sure absolutely everything was cleaned up and organized and the food was AMAZING. Everything was served at exactly the right temperature and nothing ran empty. Highly recommend!

We very much enjoyed having Layla, Ed and their team a part of our wedding day! We got married at Pine and Pond and they were one of the only companies that would not only travel out there but also be able to fully customize the menu in any way we wanted! The staff they had at the wedding were so kind and hard working. The initial tasting was a nice perk too as many caterers we talked to didn't offer this. The only hiccup we had was some of our tasting notes were lost with the food details because of a computer malfunction (life happens) but Layla went over everything to make sure it as correct and we were on the same page and it didn't end up impacting the big day at all. Thank you Layla and team!

This catering business operates out of Solei Bistro & Cafe in Spruce Grove and the couple that run it are phenomenal. They spent so much time making us feel special and valued and getting our menu just right before ever asking us to sign anything. Super kind people who make some extremely tasty food. They had a ton of options for dietary restrictions as well and we ended up being able to serve all our guests confidently. Our guests had a ton of compliments for the food and I know it was almost my husband's favourite part of the day...almost.
