A-Soo-Wuh-Um Day Use Area
In winter the day use area is closed but you can walk around the area. This is what I did with my dog. I enjoyed walking on the ice close to the riverbank. I will go again and see the seasons change. Nice little gem close to the river.

A-Soo-Wuh-Um day use area is great for a family picnic & fishing. There are lots of picnic tables & a park for the kids to play! Unfortunately, the water was too high today, so there was nowhere to stand and fish. But usually you can fish right off the riverbank. Lots of parking available as well.

Don't think many people know about this park, which I'm thankful for!! Such a nice little quiet place to have a hot dog roast and enjoy the river at. Not a far drive from Penhold and a great way to spend the afternoon!

A-Soo-Wuh-Um Day Use Area
This place is Great! It has quite a few spots to park just about any vehicle/motor home for day camping, with little built in BBQ's/fire pits. Ample amount of picnic tables to use, a cute like gazebo for multiple and/or larger families. There is also a playground for your little ones to play on. Easy access to the Red Deer river for boating or rafting. I'm fairly certain there are washrooms/outhouses that as well. Very clean and well kept. Definitely a spot to return.

A-Soo-Wuh-Um Day Use Area
Splendid little day use site by the Red Deer river, 20 mins soutwest of Red Deer and less than 10 mins west of Penhold. Access is right off the highway and this former campsite is well maintained, specially the beautifully landscaped field.It has a small play area with slides, a volleyball pit and the green steel potty shacks are scattered all over the site. There are also a few picnic shelters and lots of picnic tables.Only negative is that there is no tap for running water so come prepared with lots of water for drinking and washing.

I love this place! So close to home and perfect for day use. It would be fantastic if it was an actual Campground which it looks like it once was. Regardless, nice place to take the dogs without tons of people.

A-Soo-Wuh-Um Day Use Area
This place is one of my favourites. So peaceful, calm and quiet. Very private and not crowded. Downside: It’s only open from May 15 to October 1, 8 am till 9:30 pm. Wish they could extend that time especially in the summertime. And also, bug spray is a must. Blood sucking mosquitoes are really huge. There’s also a river alongside, great for river tubing and fishing.
