Dueck Downtown Chevrolet, GMC & Buick

This review dates to a service visit at Dueck Downtown from June 2022, when we experienced a drivability problem while on vacation with our Yukon XL.The Service Engine Soon (SES) light came on and the vehicle experienced a loss of power. We contacted Dueck Downtown and spoke with Mike D'Intino and arranged for the vehicle to be towed in. Mike was very helpful.I received a call from Mike to let me know the technician had checked the problem and indicated the throttle body needed to be replaced, and the repair would be about $1100 total. I approved the repair and picked the vehicle up the next day.Over the next 10 days, we only drove 485 km which included a trip to Squamish and back. On the day we were departing Vancouver, the SES light came on again, but there was no loss of power. I contacted Mike to let him know.We managed to drive back to Edmonton without any power loss, but upon arrival in Edmonton, the on board diagnostics had picked up the same code 2135 as found at Dueck Downtown, indicating an issue with the Throttle Position Sensor. With it running properly, I suspected it may have been just an anomaly, so the code was cleared.The vehicle wasn't used for two weeks, but the next time we went to take it out, the SES light came on, but experienced no loss of power. We took it to our local dealer. They tested it and found the same code indicating a throttle position sensor is and given that it was just replaced at Dueck Downtown, it seemed logical that the throttle body installed by Dueck Downtown was a bad part. The throttle body was replaced under parts warranty.About 10 days later, the SES came on again and the vehicle experienced a loss of power and had to be towed back into to our local dealer. On this visit, the technician found a GM bulletin on the condition and performed the service procedure according to the bulletin for a cost of $173.I waited and drove the vehicle for a month, without issue, before contacting Ken Grimann, Service Manager at Dueck Downtown to request a refund for about half of the cost ($560) of the repair they had done, as it seemed clear the throttle body was likely not at fault and their technician had failed to do a proper diagnosis. Mr Grimann declined to participate.More than 6 months have passed since our local dealer completed the service procedure according to the GM bulletin and the vehicle hasn't skipped a beat.We have always supported franchised dealers, but clearly not all dealers are the same.

Went looking for a Chevy Bolt, but like many cases, they had nothing in stock since electric vehicles are in high demand. Placed an order and was told it would take several months, some people wait up to a year! I managed to get another order sooner and got a new Chevy Bolt EV in less than 2 months. SO HAPPY.
