Bonnie MonteithMedical Secretary, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - Surgery Dept Was very rude and when I told her sure I want to book an appointment she did not book it, instead went on a whole rant about how I don’t sound sure. Based on a phone call it’s not up to her to make that decision, you should never speak to patients like that. It was the most unprofessional phone call I received from a medical department, get some proper ethical training Bonnie.

For a hospital it’s nice, I mean no one really wants to be staying here because that means you’re sick or had an accident. Maybe you’re visiting someone because of those reasons, either way it’s not the best place you want to be. That being said this hospital has a good reputation and is pleasant to be in. I was here to visit a friend and was able to find his room fairly easily. He has been taken care of very well and had good things to say about his treatment and the staff. I have come to this hospital many times over the years and have always had a good experience. As a side point, the restaurant on the main floor has good food and service and the staff is friendly and courteous. There is nice public artwork throughout the building and even an art gallery also. You can even find art work by Lucy the elephant.June 7, 2019Great care and attentive service from all the staff we met. I brought my father in for day surgery, reduction of the prostrate and kidney stone break up. He will stay overnight to make sure his urine is clear. He came out of surgery into the urology unit 3E3. The nurses and support staff were friendly and courteous. I can say that our experience was a good one. It’s not like you want to be in the hospital as a patient but if you were this place takes care of you. Of course this is the same place as University of Alberta hospital. There are several places to buy food and gift shops, ATM machines.February 11, 2020. Dad has been here for 5 days so far because he fell and broke 4 ribs. Besides that the more serious thing is he has congestive heart failure. It’s not great and hard to know what will happen in the next little while but the care received has been good. Dad is in a semiprivate room

In Emergency, great staff who provided good explanations and good care. Transferred to Mazankowski 5A5 unit where he remains for pending heart surgery. Wonderful, informative staff,on this unit, giving great preop teaching. Adequate visitor parking. Clean, tidy hallways, rooms and public cafes and washrooms. Pleasant visitor information attendee who gave great directional service.

Everyone I've ever interacted with here has been professional and helpful. Most are very kind and friendly and try to make an unpleasant time bearable if not almost enjoyable. This hospital is fantastic - and the food isn't so bad all things considered.

Lack of communication when they called me for an appointment, no directions for procedure, and only told me about 1 procedure not 2 that where suppose to be. Very upset,

It started off great! Friendly doctors, staff that put you at ease, and help when necessary. But I started to feel like a bother from the operating room on. The surgeon was substantially less than pleasant, and after the surgery, the night nurse wouldn't let me sleep not fully comprehending that I was exhausted from not sleeping due to pain prior to surgery and after. It wasn't an optional procedure, I was in pain and hadn't slept for almost 44 hours. Finally, I was repremended for taking my regular meds that I needed to take. A second nurse came and told me why but there was no mention of it prior. No discussion as to why I shouldn't before that. I couldn't get discharged fast enough. And finally came the visit there for another issue days later that may or may not have been related but was potentially an emergency as well. Online wait time was four hours. Triage told me twelve hours. I have a hard time believing that online wait times could be so different than actual wait times. Calling didn't produce any information whatsoever. Had to spend almost $100 on cabs to go there and a different hospItal for treatment.

I have visited this health sconces center several times. It is part of the University of Alberta hospital. Well maintained well organized hospital. It serves edmontonian to maintain there well being. Majority of the staff are friendly and always try to make people feel comfortable and safe while in this hospital. The food here on the 1st floor is also pretty good for hospital food. The 5th floor has some of the most amazing staff I have ever met - very caring and compassionate. The doctors are very knowledgeable and the nurses are very thorough. If I ever get sick, it's definitely the hospital I would like to go to, knowing I'd get the best care possible.

in 2011 I spent 3mths her for surgeries, back then you were looked after, now I had one black nurse asked me how much to pay her to replace and IV...I said I pay taxes and this is not a restaurant...food is lousy, and watch out about, ppl walking in your private bathroom......I just peed on his shoes, and respond time is faulty...I am now here because of being stabbed by a schizo who was drunk. no safety out there, thanks to this truly disfunction government in federal and province , all the good decent nurse and staff left and now staffed by kenny goons and trudope's liberal ways...I had to show one nurse where to place the IV , not in the crook of the elbow I told her , but on the forearm....she said after that we can't be friends..I told her we are not friends, this is workplace and I am here to heal...things will get worse, and on top of it, they blare a siren to announce someone tested positive for covid-19....
