We only had beers - no food - so can't comment on that. But the service was fast and incredibly friendly and the beer selection was good. If you're in the neighborhood looking for a neighborhood pub, definitely give them a try

Gritty McDuff's Brew Pub
Great place to stop on a rainy Portland Saturday. Or probably any other day. I had the smash burger with Gritty’s homemade chips. The burger was perfectly cooked and served on a grilled and buttered bun. Very good. My dining partner enjoyed the chowder in a bread bowl.

The bartender kind of sucked. It was almost like she didn't want to sell me anything. I asked for a recommendation on a dark beer and she said we only have one and I doubt you'd like it. Then my roommate went in while I waited outside with the dog on the deck. He had the same experience trying to order a light beer. Very strange place. The deck was really pretty and there were fish in the kind of murky water.No food available.

This is a beautiful restaurant and brewhouse. The staff here are top tier, the atmosphere is that of an open pub style restaurant. 5/5 would definitely recommend

It's kind of dark but it was a gloomy, rainy day out when we went so that probably didn't help.Took a while for us to get any service and they weren't busy. Food came out quickly though.Bloody Mary is decent, it's a house mix. The table next to us had one so someone at my table ordered one and they looked completely different. The other tables looked well presented and delicious while ours looked slab together.The fried mushrooms are yummy.The taco special was good. The homemade salsa delicious. The fried clams and fried special was OK. A bit greasy and breaded a bit much.The beer is not the greatest, or at least the one I had for my taste.The atmosphere and the mediocre beer, I don't see myself going back but I like to check all the places out so see for yourself.

Gritty McDuff's Brew Pub
We just left L.L. BEAN and were hungry and saw this place. Decided to stop and we are so glad that we did! Beer was great but the food was amazing. Cody, our server, was very attentive and helpful! We ordered crab enchiladas and lobster tacos. Both were served with rice, mango salsa, and sour cream. Very delicious!!

Excellent little brew pub in Freeport...sign says this is Maine's first brew pub...the beers were tasty and the food was cooked perfectly. Try the pulled pork fries, lobster roll and clam chowder. The staff were also very professional and attentive.

Had the lobster poutine and veggie burger. Would order both again in a heart beat. Both had excellent balance of flavor. Staff was very friendly and attentive. All wore mask perfectly and you could see them washing hands diligently!

I stop by Gritty's couple of times a year, when I have stuff to do in Portland or north. Last time I was there, after ordering the excellent fish and chips, I noticed clams on the Special menu. Had lunch there today and had the clams with a Best Bitter. I've been eating fried clams for some seventy years: These were among the best. Small and crispy as I like them best. Had the cauliflower instead of fries, and it too was a cut above. Everything fresh fresh fresh.
