Breakout Nanaimo Escape Rooms

Went with my family of 4 and Grandpa came too. Did the West Coast Fail room. We have been to many escape rooms, from Ottawa to Vancouver. I think the Breakout Room escape room is one of the best we have been to. The room is chalenging, but not unsolvable like some of the rooms we have been to. I like how they give clues on a screen rather than a person speaking to you. The only criticism is that the host could have had a little more enthusiasm. The lobby is clean, and rooms are well kept. I prefer the one hour rooms, which this is, and the pricing is reasonable. Definitely recommend.

Given the other reviews, it was a surprisingly disappointing experience. Go to any other escape room place in Nanaimo.The concepts of the Vanished room was put together alright with puzzles but there were no clear clues or themes linking them. Also too many simple key locks that look like they were from the dollar store. The room was so brightly lit and lacked decoration that it was kind of the atmosphere of being in an office building.Worst of all 3 of the puzzles (won’t spoil them) were broken to the point that we had to tell the staff to intervene and give us extra time. We had the right answers but a lot of the stuff in there was janky from use and needed to be repaired. In fact, the staff told us they had been having issues with some things afterwards. At which point I thought, why are you taking everyone’s money on a Saturday if you know it needs repairs?I guess they can’t all be winners and I’m not asking for my money back after eating the meal- even though it left a bad taste in my mouth.Well we escaped and experienced it but I would definitely not go back nor recommend it. Go to 出xit or the place at the bowling alley. They are cheaper if your group is 4 or less anyway and their rooms are way better (atmosphere and puzzles).Edit : Revised for a reply from the business. I understand they are doing their best but frankly our group just didn’t enjoy the quality of what they offered.

Zero customer service. I have sent emails and left voicemails. No one has gotten back to me. I have been trying to get a hold of someone for 3 months now with out a single reply. Incredibly disappointing.

Did the 80's themed room. It had a good variety of puzzles. Room is of reasonable production quality. Staff was friendly and supportive. Their hints come via a television screen in bits and pieces which help move you through the room.

Staff was very friendly . Clues were good well done maybe a bit hard for our age group not enough hints . Downside i was super disapointed extreamly low budget we did the 80s room and it was pathetic experience . I felt like i was walking into thrift store clearnace room, broken, dirty low quality set up . Looked very much as though an inexperinced house wife put it together with her PAC team . That being said the staff was amazingly nice welcoming and warm i just could never see myself wanting to pay 140 bucks for such a dismal experience. I honestly wish i could of taken pictures ...

This is the second time I’ve done an escape room. My first time was at a different business in a different town. Breakout is of far superior quality to my first escape room. This one had cool effects and challenging puzzle and good equipment. The theme room had quality decor and locks were all in good working order and there were neat features. We needed quite a few hints but got out with 15 minutes to spare. This was a perfect date night for us with our best friends. Location was great to go out for a pint after. I recommend this as something different to do for a family trip with older kids, for an anniversary or grown up birthday.

Couldnt get a hold of anyone. Couldnt book online". It comes up with prices but thats all. It will let me.sign up for a news letter but not book. The other two places in nanaimo for escape rooms are much easier to book and deal with"

I have been trying to get ahold of someone here since Oct of 2002. I've sent several e-mails, gone down to their office when they are open, the door sign says there are only in the office when an appointment is booked so I went when they had bookings, again the place is empty. I have $100 in gift cards it won't let me spend online to book and you have to use your credit card to pay online . Complete scam and I'm super upset. We bought our guft cards when they had a little set up in the mall.

Incredible experience! Our group had so much fun, it blew all of our expectations away. The staff were a pleasure and contributed greatly to the excitement (we had Karly- 5 stars!) The room theme was creative and detailed- we felt challenged but laughed the whole way through. Fantastic group activity, we will definitely be coming again

Great staff, super clean, I've done every room and they're all challenging and fun! You can tell someone local wrote the stories and it really adds to the immersion. Each room is spacious enough for a party but not overwhelming! Priced high but high quality, great to split with your covid bubble!
