Halibut House Fish & Chips Ajax
After seeing Halibut House the last two times I was in town, I tried it today.The location wasn’t busy; there were only two other people when I came in and one other person came in to place a to-go order while I was there.I ordered the special, one piece with chips and coleslaw. The food was tasty—I appreciate the coleslaw especially.The service was friendly and quick, portion sizes are huge for the price, and it’s conveniently located.

The positives are:- Delicious fish and chips (halibut and cod) ordered- Coleslaw was great, appreciated the non-mayonaise dressing- Restaurant is extremely clean and great for dining in as there is lots of spaceThe only negative is that we felt rushed, even though the restaurant was empty and they were processing lots of take out orders. We were not asked if we wanted coffee/tea and/or dessert, just the bill brought after our meal.A bit expensive for fish n chips

The server clearly did not want to work there and showed on her face and service. She said the Cod was more fishy than the Haddock which was not true at all. The haddock was fishy and over cooked with oil. My friend asked for it to not be so oily and it still was. The place itself is a nice spot I liked the restaurant. That was pretty much the only good thing about that day.

A nice quiet place for lunch. They have a nice brunch menu. Service is quick and professional. Everything I have eaten has been quite good. Casual diner style atmosphere.

DO NOT ORDER their chicken souvlaki dinner. The rice was bland, the chicken was bland and I’m almost certain the salad would have been bland if it wasn’t for the dressing it came with. If you’re going to offer other options for those that don’t eat seafood, do a taste test before you make it available to the general public.Definitely NOT worth the $20 spent!

The fries were massive - and nice and HOT I could tell they were freshly fried. I had the haddock fish and chips and my wife had the grilled halibut.Both fish were cooked to perfection and tasted great. The service was great too, cashier was super nice and asked if I needed cutlery, sauces, etc. The place itself was nice and clean and had sanitizers available for everyone. Can't wait to dine in.

Was not impressed that they forgot to put my dessert in my take out so I had to drive all the way back. Container they put the Halibut in leaked on my clothes. To top it off the food was that good. Very disappointed in the whole experience and it will be my first and last time at that location.

Had terrible fish and chips for good Friday. Ordered halibut but had supper fishy smell and was very tough and stringy. Normally is ok but wouldn't buy again.
