I just completed my second Atlas Ocean Tour with four of my friends. Although it was the first week of May, the weather was clear, sunny and the waters calm. What a fabulous time we had in the pristine wilderness of the Gwaii Haanas National Park, a World Heritage Site and a place of wonder. Our days were spent kayaking, fishing, visiting historic Haida villages, bathing in natural hot springs, eating fabulous meals, wildlife viewing and exploring the extensive coves and inlets of Gwaii Haanas. MV Atlas is a pilothouse trawler yacht, beautifully maintained and can comfortably accommodate 6 guests. Atlas is operated by a variety of experienced and extremely knowledgeable captains. They are long time locals who intimately know and care about the area. Their knowledge of fish, wildlife and the history is extensive, plus they are great cooks! The hospitality on the boat was wonderful.

Can’t say enough good things. Just returned from our 8 day trip, first tour of the season. James and Bryan are both so knowledgeable and made us immediately feel at ease. The ‘ Atlas’ is the absolutely perfect vessel to travel the waters of Gwaii Haanas in comfort. Food wonderful, kayaking in the pristine waters perfect, fun fishing… oh and the whales and dolphins put on such a show. To top it all off, perfect weather. (Yes, rubber boots are necessary for all shore adventures.) In my view this is the ONLY way to tour Gwaii Haanas. A big thanks to Atlas Ocean Tours.

A Trip Like No OtherWe enjoyed the most fantastic 8-day voyage aboard Atlas, visiting all the Haida Watchmen sites, kayaking, hiking, and eating amazing stocked food plus fresh seafood we caught (crab, salmon, ling cod, halibut, prawns). We saw many humpback whales, sea lions, seals, and beautiful bird life. The weather cooperated to allow us to travel to the southern tip Cape St James and Kerouard Islands and up the southern west coast to Rose Harbour. Captain Darrell knows how to make each day an adventure along with being an incredible chef and host. This size vessel allows a lot of flexibility compared to larger tour boats in planning the days itinerary. This is truly a trip of a lifetime, and well worth the cost.
