Mahmoud provides a great group experience for learning. When I started I was having a lot of problems, but every time I asked for help, Mahmoud sat with me and showed me again and again the right way to do it. Wonderful class, I would recommend to anyone and everyone wanting to learn about ceramics!

I've been a return student for almost 4 years now! The class is a great environment to learn how to throw pieces on a pottery wheel, or to hand build pieces and to learn to glaze. If you have the time, you can help out and learn how to load the electric kilns. The Teacher is great. He always has interesting stories to share, and goes into a lot of detail when explaining how to make pieces, but not so much to be confusing or overwhelming. He also encourages experimentation, and you can make practically anything you have the skills to make. If you know you'll miss a class, there's a system set up to switch classes with other students so you don't miss any time at the wheel. I highly recommend taking classes at Atelier Spirale!

A phenomenal place to learn about pottery and have a nice time! Mahmoud teaches by example and demos, which works really well. On Saturdays he opens his studio so you can practice by yourself. A fantastic class with a great atmosphere, highly recommended!

My family and I attended a private class with Mahmoud. The studio is warm, joyful, and inviting. He has a wonderful presence, many fabulous stories to tell, and was quick to reply to our queries (with consideration, and flexibility might I add!)It was a great experience that I would absolutely recommend. The group and I are thankful and looking forward to taking group classes sometime in the futur!

My husband and I took a private class. A solid introduction to the technical aspects of pottery, a chance to immerse ourselves in a world we previously knew next to nothing about, and a deeper appreciation for the art and magic involved. We got plenty of time to really get our hands dirty. Lukus is a skilled ceramicist and a patient instructor, and it was very cool to watch him expertly fix our rookie mistakes! Mahmoud, the mastermind behind the studio, was also on hand - we enjoyed meeting him and hearing his stories. I enthusiastically recommend Atelier Spirale!

Incredible experience making pottery for the first time! A small group of us took a private class and Mahmoud was a wonderful teacher: patient, kind, helpful and very funny. Lots of clay ended up on the discard/reuse pile, but we eventually got the hang of it and I can't wait to see how my pieces turn out after being fired and glazed. We had so much fun, learned a lot, and the time just flew by! Looking forward to honing my skills in a full class one day. Excellent experience!

I came into this class having no prior experience, but after 10 amazing weeks which flew by so quick, I can confidently say that I am an amateur thrower. The class itself is very engaging, with Mahmoud in the center of the lesson doing demonstrations for teaching as well as going around while students ask for help. I had forgotten about this kind of environment after 5 years at McGill Engineering where the experience is nowhere like this.As for the people who take the class, they were such genuine kind individuals. It probably has to do with the fact that everyone is there for the same purpose, but maybe also thats just the type of people pottery attracts. With such diverse students by both age and culture, it really is a breeding ground for creativity as well as learning. As per the schedule, you sign up for a certain day per week and that is your defined spot however there is a discussion board where you can communicate with other students to possibly switch dates for a week without a problem, giving large variability. If this doesnt work out, you can still e-mail Mahmoud personally and if luck is on your side and there is a free spot in another course, he will gladly accommodate you.So to sum up:1) Great learning opportunities2) Very accommodating teacher giving flexibility3) Tranquil and enjoying environment4) Home brewed tea by master potter (and i guess also tea expert) at the end of every class which tastes like heaven

Been attending classes here since the beginning of this year. A studio full of tools (including handmade ones!) and materials, and you also get more clay and work time than any other studio I've been at. Great environment especially if you like being independent, working at your own pace, and playing with your own projects. The classroom is very friendly with many repeat students as well as new faces. Mahmoud is cheerful and gruff, and a knowledgeable teacher. He'll show you all the basics, but as you advance you can ask him about how to make just about anything! Come for the pottery, stay for the dad jokes.
