I hired Matthew to add a third bedroom to our home and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. After I initially contacted him, his reply was so prompt, and within a couple of days I had a quote. Once I had approved the quote, work started right away and took the exact amount of time estimated. Budget-wise everything went perfectly according to plan, and he was happy to add on extra items that I requested as we went along. Any time additional work was added to the original quote he was very clear about the cost and at no time did I ever feel blindsided or pressured or anything. I was really hoping to find hardwood floors that matched the rest of our house and he managed to find some great reclaimed hardwood that is a pretty close match! Every interaction was totally stress free and positive and I never had to think too hard or worry about anything. He had some great ideas for the bedroom that I hadn't even thought of - beautiful white-washed sliding barn doors for the closets -that pulled the whole room together nicely. I also ended up purchasing a custom made shed from him that is absolutely gorgeous. 100% would work with him again, I was a bit worried about hiring someone I found online for a renovation, having heard lots of horror stories about the industry, but for this renovation with Matthew, everything turned out absolutely perfect!

Unfortunately we had to enter into small claims due to Matthew Lopez not performing what was asked and trying to force an invoice twice what was owed and agreed on. Be sure to do your research. Owner says all the right things but doesn’t deliver. BC Housing also made an action against him last year for acting as though he was a licensed registered builder when he wasn’t. Giant buyers beware.

We are thoroughly impressed with the quality of build we received from Lopez Contracting. My father-in-law had hired Matthew in the past for some small projects around the house and had recommended him to us for a larger scale project. We had designed a tree house for the back yard which we needed built as fast as possible due to family health issues. Not only was Matthew able to put our design into life, and completed it in a very reasonable time frame for a competitive as promised budget, he added personal touches that made the tree house significantly better! His workmanship, attention to detail, and excellent demeanour make him one of the finest contractors we’ve ever had hired to work for us. I would whole heartedly recommend Matthew for any project around the house, and look forward to having him for our future projects.

After an epic journey trying to find someone to install a live-wood mantle in our condo in Victoria, we were thrilled to be referred to Lopez Contracting. After nearly two years of trying to find someone willing to help us, we were so lucky to finally find someone who was genuinely interested in the job, and it really showed in the finished product. The result was much more than a mantle. It was a piece of art. We are thrilled with how it turned out. On top of that, Matthew and all his employees were very professional and pleasant, and made the whole experience very easy for us. The communication was timely, and thorough. The price was fair, and Matthew made sure that we were satisfied before he signed off on the job. I would highly recommend this group of enterprising young men and women for any woodworking job you might have.
