H&R Block

*The 1 star is for the fantastic support my husband received from Irene on Saturday*We returned today to continue filing our taxes with H&R Block. The lack of professionalism made me uncomfortable from the beginning of the appointment. We were seen 30 minutes after our initial appointment time (no acknowledgement), the agents could not locate our documents (left on location on Saturday) which posed a security risk to me. The agent glossed over and minimized questions I had. We were astounded to hear the agent quote our service fee at ~$300, considering our return was under $100. On Saturday, we were told the agent would not proceed if the return is under $600, the agent would look out for the client's best interest... This was not the case today.We asked if it was possible to end the process and not continue filing the taxes. She did not respond other than humming. We explained that we were uncomfortable with her responses and would like to consider different options. We got up, thanked her for her time, and left.After having my questions answered by another tax professional, the outcome of our return was very different.I feel like this service is a well-disguised scam.

The tax experts" are quite good. I've been using this location for a few years now. However

I had A very bad experience using them. It was my first and last time and I will not recommend them to anyone.I sent them a letter around0 May 9 outlining my concerns as well as asking for a partial refund of the $300 they charged and for the 3 hours thatni had to spend with Alvaro to process my taxes. To date, I have heard nothing from them.

Terrible, terrible experience with Alvaro.Went in to file for personal income taxes. The initial woman assigned to me had no clue what to do, and after a few minutes of her leaving the office, I overheard a few employees discussing my taxes sounding very unsure, which didn’t give me any confidence in them.Alvaro the “senior expert” was then assigned to me and let me tell you how terribly incompetent he was. Long story short, he seemed to be learning as he did my taxes. So after all was said and done, I paid the $350 and my taxes should have been filed electronically right then and there.I had a hunch something was off, so right after I left I went to the other H&R Block down the road on Carling. I gave them the whole story and the woman assigned to me was very knowledgeable and helpful. She looked through my taxes that I brought over and found many errors that would have cost me hundreds. She told me I was missing a document and to bring it in to her. She also mentioned that my tax return hadn’t been filed yet (when it should have before I walked out the door) and told me to tell Alvaro not to file it at all until she gets the document, and she will file the proper return herself.So after a couple more hours, I drive back over to this first location to ask Alvaro if he had filed it and if he hadn’t, to not file it. He seems to not understand me, he leaves for a minute and comes back out and tells me that he just filed it on the spot. AFTER I TOLD HIM NOT TO!! He is so senile and clueless it enraged me beyond reason.I returned to the other H&R Block a few hours later and the woman was able to fix everything by doing an adjustment request and didn’t charge me after everything.This whole experience was beyond infuriating and I will never recommend this location to anyone.

Got charged $226 for an absolute trash return. I was supposed get worker's benefit but they claimed I made just under 1K too much to qualify. Regardless of not getting the benefit, I was supposed to be making money back but the CRA decided to go on strike, so there's absolutely no one I can speak to, to get my CRA balanced fixed. This whole system is trash and so is this H&R Block for not helping me.

One of the best offices for filing my taxes. The staff is very professional and courteous. Will definitely recommend.

Would not recommend this Location to anyone only reason I use this service at H&R Block was to get a same-day refund it was done online via email I stated that I wanted the same day refund she brought up an issue that may prevent me from getting the same day refund I gave her an answer and heardnothing more about the same day. Refund so I thought the situation was resolved and proceeded to file my taxes there was a fee of over 200$ after I signed all the documents via Doc you sign I received an email saying my taxes were filed and everything was OK I said an email back saying when should I expect my refund shortly there after they said I will be receiving a check in about two weeks from Cra It may not seem like a lot of money but I’ve had a trip planned all summer and I decided to file my taxes although it was late hoping that I could have a little extra spending money now instead of having a little extra money I’m actually out $200 and it kind of ruined my whole trip Thylambal Subramanian had nothing to say there was no apology she said this was my fault Awful experience and would never come back to this place ever again

This business is the worst I have ever dealt with hands down. Extremely unprofessional and at this point I'm considering suing. They told me when I filed my taxes that I wouldn't owe any money, that in fact I would get a $500 cheque back in the mail - which I did. Then yesterday I opened a piece of mail from the CRA stating that I owe $1216.38! When I spoke with the woman who did my taxes she assured me I wouldn't owe any money. Then when I call to inquiry about said situation they have no records" and it was like pulling teeth to find out how did them for me. They sent me on a wild goose chase to call other H&R blocks (who were way more helpful) then the place who actually filed them. The secretary was beyond rude ; who hung up on me when I challenged her on to what was going on. I would NEVER recommend anyone go to this place. Even if you want to file with H&R block I would go to a different one. I can't remember the last time I've been this angry. Their customer service is atrocious. They clearly made a massive error in filing my taxes

My appointment was for 6:30.. I was not seen until 7:40!!!!!! Jocelyne at the front desk was very kind and apologetic for the delay, but what kind of service is this? ... maybe I got unlucky with who was assigned to my file- but this kind of service was really disappointing. I would have at the very least appreciated a courtesy call telling me that they were running lates with appointments. THEN after being sped through my appointment (because someone else was scheduled for 7:30), i got told that had I made an appointment for March (up to YESTERDAY), i would have been eligible for some sort of discount...: i made my appointment 2.5 months ago!!! I would have REALLY appreciated if someone had told me about this over the phone when I made my appointment. I have been going to H&R Block since I was 17- I will be seeking an alternate arrangement next year.

The worst experience I’ve had at H&R Block, avoid this location at all costs. If you’re lucky enough to speak with anyone who knows English; they still don’t seem to know anything about tax returns. It’s a very sketchy and unprofessional business. There’s a few different locations in the area and I’d highly recommend going to one of those instead!
