Great value. Food excellent. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Thankyou HelenThere was a problem with the shower but there was also a bath .We stayed with our dog, eating in the bar but were treated as if in the dining room.Lovely old building in beautiful surrounds.Looking to visiting again.

This place was nice but nothing special. the room was clean but the dust webs in the bathroom couldn't be missed. The mattress was so uncomfortable that I slept on the floor the 2nd night. The whole place was way too hot and we could only open 1 window and the water was dangerously hot. When turning the hot bath tap off it was loose so twisted, when I went to put it back it place I burnt my fingers. The staff, even though they were very smiley and friendly would have looked better if they had a uniform.

This hotel is a beautiful old style country hotel, in a good location. If you are booking for a £99 deal, my advice is to get an upgrade on your room. My friend and I didn’t and only found out this morning as we were leaving, how much better other rooms were. We were in room 8 for two nights and although the room was nice and the beds were very comfortable, the mattresses need renewing as underneath , they were stained but did have clean toppers / protectors on. We had unpacked ( for two nights) but unfortunately the shower was only tepid and very limited pressure wise. The bath plug also wouldn’t fit and therefore wouldn’t hold water. We reported this and they sent someone promptly to look but unfortunately they couldn’t fix either. We were offered to move rooms but had unpacked after a long journey, so declined and we were offered a bottle of wine. The restaurant and staff were incredible and were friendly, efficient and welcoming. The food was initially lukewarm but this was corrected the next evening. Also a good selection of dishes to choose from. Nothing was too much trouble. The other guests were also lovely and it was fun. The hotel was beautiful, needs a little attention in part but value for money. It would be an ideal place for a murder mystery I my opinion!Plenty of parking. Despite my obvious complaints, I would return in a heartbeat with an upgrade.Well done to all the staff who work so hard to cover all areas. I will definitely visit again. Thank you all for making our stay so memorable.

Very nice hotel. We stayed in room 16 which was massive. On first appearance it didn't appear to be the most child friendly environment as the majority of people visiting seemed to be of an older generation however the staff and other visitors were very welcoming of us having our children with us and didn't mind them being in the bar area in the evening. We booked four rooms in total for all of us as it was a 60th birthday. The lady who was 60 was fist placed in a room that was a little too warm for them as it had the boiler in the same room as them. After asking at reception they were moved to by far the best room in the entire hotel and we greatly appreciate that.Hotel was immaculately clean throughout and quiet throughout the entire time we were there.Hotel staff were happy to book us taxis to take us into the town in the evening and the breakfast was lovely.Thank you for a great stay we look forward to coming back again soon

Lovely place. Our room was beautiful and clean as were all areas. However, it was tropical! Our bedroom was 27 degrees! The dining room was sweltering as were all public areas. The evening dinner was so so, but the staff were surly and scruffy! The breakfast was delicious! The staff in the morning were lovely and proffesional.Bit of a mixed bag.

Super value! The hotel is a very attractive country house, nicely restored. The common rooms are comfortable and beautifully panelled in oak, an interesting place. The staff are great and the food plentiful and very tasty. It is a mile and a half from Sandsend, which is a lovely and interesting little place and close to Whitby. The sunset is nice too. Well worth a visit.

We booked on the recommendation of friends who have stayed many times . We were given a beautiful room with great views. However , we found out later we didn’t have hot water or heating. The staff member I discussed this with was very dismissive saying it had been off all day and there was no sign of a plumber. No offer of a temporary heater. There was a lounge area with what was obviously an open fire but no one had thought to light it.On exploration the dining room was chilly but the bar area was toasty. Other guests were also having issues with heating and hot water. In this day and age you would think a hotel would have an emergency contract in place. We had two nice meals and the surroundings were beautiful. We had a couple of drinks with our evening meal, which when we came to check out next morning we were charged for. Goodwill would have been nice on that occasion.A telephone call of warning would have been useful too. We were only staying one night but I felt sorry for those on longer breaks as the weather was due to become cooler. Slightly disappointed.

We have stayed at Dunsley Hall several times and have previously recommended it to our friends. We arrived Sunday afternoon, April 16th, for a four night stay b,b & evening meal. We were allotted ROOM 27 in the annexe - we usually like these rooms as there are no stairs to manage with our luggage. On entry, the room was very hot but this could be tempered by opening both windows and the door leading outside to the garden. The thermostat control was turned down but this made no difference to the hot room, presumably heated underfloor. However, the major problem was a pervading intermittent noise which continued throughout our stay and 24/7. After an almost sleepless night, the next morning we found the source of this noise - it was coming from the room next door - the boiler room. We complained to the Reception lady who eventually offered us another room but this could not be available for another two days. As this would mean we would have to change rooms for just one night, we decided to stay put. Big mistake as one night's sleep would have been better than none at all! We also asked if the boiler was going to be repaired or serviced but no response... We spoke to our neighbours in ROOM 26 - they too were upset by this noise and could hear it even though he was deaf and she had to wear earplugs! On leaving on the Thursday morning and paying the bill, we again complained to a different Receptionist lady about the noisy room. She made a note in her book and then replied rather abruptly Ask for an upgrade the next time you stay". We both said that

First visit here, but will certainly be back. Such a lovely building & wonderful gardens. Superb rooms and friendly, helpful staff. A peaceful, relaxing retreat - but so close to the coast & the Moors.
