No picnic tables to sit and eat. They refuse to give you condiments to apply to your own fries. Ordered a large fry and asked for vinegar. The lady working told me “no” when I asked why she told me “take it up with the manager”. Fries are good but not for that service or atmosphere. No picnic tables so you’re sitting in a car or the floor to eat. Other places near by have fries just as good with better service and atmosphere. Used to go all the time and it was great but now I won’t be going back. Would not recommend.

We stopped in for a late lunch /snack around 2pm. The man serving seemed pleasant and the poutines were good. He put cheese curds and gravy in the middle as well which I appreciated.

This food experience has not got any better in recent years, they continue to serve dried up fries due to over cooking and the accompanying pieces are also too crisp and dry. This highway fast food is a very poor reflection on the small town that it represents in any small way.

We stopped for lunch on our way home from camping. A little tough to get a pop up trailer into if he’s busy but we made it work! Food and service were excellent! Very generous portions!

We always see the parking lot of this spot full whenever we drive past but have never stopped ourselves. This time we did en route back to Ottawa. The cook/server wasn't very friendly. They accept cash only, so be prepared. There are no signs stating this. Thankfully, we happened to have cash on us...The fries were overcooked and undersalted. A large fry with gravy was 9$ plus tax I think. Good in a pinch but I'm not sure what all the fuss was about. Likely wouldn't stop there again...

Recommended to all. I believe you need cash (?) But the poutine is great and so are the hot dogs and fries. Great place to recharge and refuel after a long day.

Love a little fries with my cheesecurds! This chip pit gem at the corner of Pembroke St and Main St in Cobden is always yummy. Consistently fantastic fries and a God Bless to add which I love!

As a member of the whitewater kayaking community, there has been a long standing tradition amongst us to stop by the Chip Pit after a tough day of paddling the Ottawa River. No idea how it began, but it’s pretty obvious why it lives on: This is probably the best spot for poutine outside Quebec. The fries are crispy, the gravy is tasty, and the cheese curds are gooey. Also, they layer all the ingredients so that no fry is left dry. What more could you want? I always end up getting the glutton size (see picture below), however I do not recommend ordering it if you’re alone because it’s quite a task to finish. I just love this place so much and I can’t recommend it enough.Pro tip: order a cajun poutine - it’s not on the menu but you’ll thank me later! ;)

Got cheeseburger and poutine. Burger was excellent as well as the poutine. Fries tasted great, oil is obviously changed regularly. Poutine used curds, not just shredded cheese. Burger had real cheese not just a processed single. Great location. Highly recommend.
