Boundaries Family Support Group

I learned from the Boundaries Support Group many lessons along with warm support and friendship. I try to remember the following words that were constantly reinforced at the meetings;I did not cause her addictionI can not cure her addictionI cannot control her addictionI cannot fix her.I didn’t do anything wrongI can't work her recovery for her. KAB

I began attending Boundaries Group meetings to seek support for the intense emotional struggles I have faced due to my adult child's opioid addiction.My initial conversations at the meetings revolved around my daughter and her needs. Her well being was my primary concern with minimal consideration for my own. After dedicated attendance I began to realize the importance of taking care of myself which in turn allowed me to better support my child in a healthier and more productive way.I have gained valuable insight and support from the people who have experienced firsthand the turmoil associated with living with a loved one's addiction. This insight has helped me to better deal with my child's issues while also taking care of myself.It is a safe place to talk freely and sometimes just vent. The group members offer honest feedback based on personal experiences should I ask for it.Boundaries is a great resource that has had a profound and positive affect on me. I highly recommend attending.
