I've been shopping at Racer Sportif for years, always with great service. Most recently, I had a Retul fit completed by Frank. The improvements in comfort and performance were immediately apparent. Also, Frank made a fantastic recommendation for a new pair of bib shorts which also immediately improved comfort while riding. Absolutely great experience from the moment we walked in. Very friendly staff. I had heard that they only catered to avid and knowledgeable cyclists. But as a recreational rider and semi-knowledgeable cyclist the experience my wife (she was buying a new gravel bike) and I had dealing with Frank (the owner) was top notch. He took the time to find out what our needs were and then explained everything in very simple language. We never felt intimidated or pressured. After the bike was ready he took the time to ensure the sizing and fit was right and made the appropriate adjustments. I would highly recommend Racer Sportif in Oakville for any of your cycling needs.

Employees lied to us about being able to return a purchase. I see someone else here had the same experience. Employees are indeed untruthful.

My bike needed some maintenance extremely last minute, having had a great experience at their shop before I brought it to them. Expecting to be out of luck, they went above and beyond and were able to tune up my bike within the same day! Excellent customer experience, their staff are friendly and very knowledgeable.

My Retül EpiphanySo, here’s the deal. On a bike trip through Italy last year the tour leader mentioned that my left leg was going wonky on each downstroke, to which I promised that I’d investigate a bike fit.Procrastinator that I am I finally booked a Retül bike fit with Frank at Racer Sportif about a year later, with only 14 days left before I headed to out for a grueling 28-day ride through Spain.Long story short, it would be easier to list what my three-hour session on the Retül system DIDN’T change. Frank dramatically lowered my saddle, moved it back and levelled it. My bars were rotated forward, and the left brake lever repositioned. He opened the float on my Speedplay cleats and pulled them as far back as they could go. And yes, he even convinced me (through a new concept called facts and logic) that a set of custom molded footbed were called for.The initial result? My first outdoor rides here in Toronto were a shock as the saddle felt so low, but by my fifth ride things started to feel normal. I could see that I was sitting further back on the saddle, the pressure on my hands was much reduced, my average cadence was edging higher with less jerkiness, and at times I seemed to be pulling more watts with no more perceived effort. And holy cow, the new footbeds were planting my feet just as Frank had said they would.So how did my bike fit perform in Spain? One word, awesome! Through 2,000kms of riding and 38,000m of climbing not once did the term “saddle sore” enter my mind, nor did I have to shake the feeling back into my hands… numbness in both areas was a thing of the past. Everything that I’d noted in my first rides after the refit was amplified for the better during the relentless climbs and crazy fast descents that I enjoyed during my four-week adventure.And my previous left leg wonkiness? Gone, much to the relief of a knee which in years past would have been complaining loudly by the end of the tour.What can I say? With Frank’s help, I’ve become a religious convert to the Retül system. It’s been an absolute epiphany for me, and on a value proposition basis it’s proven to be the best money I’ve ever spent on this crazy sport!

Not too often do bike shops go above and beyond what you ask for, but Racer Sportif has done it almost every time I go to them!Last summer, before a Rockies bike trip from Calgary to Vancouver, my wife needed a last second saddle and bike fit. With no actual availability, Frank squeezed in a 1+ hour session for Victoria and it helped her with knee pain and hand numbness!Fast forward to last week, when my bike needed a rear derailleur adjustment. Not only did they expedite the process, but they worked on my breaks and fixed my front derailleur in the process! Incredible!!Thanks so much!
