Called in for a table of 8 and we were accommodated immediately. The service was fantastic, and the server and cook were very kind, considering my loud family of east coasters. Great portion sizes, and everyone loved their meals.

We came in for lunch with my wife, mom and grandma. We were excited about a Newfie diner and looking forward to trying the food. The owner is friendly and personable. The food, although the wait was a little long, was great: the fish was well-cooked, the tar tar sauce was delicious, and the Newfie poutine with gravy and stuffing was great.I ordered the 2-piece cod fish and chips, for me and my wife to share. When the food arrived, the owner told me that he’s charging $5 more for our 2-piece meal because we were sharing it. I couldn’t believe this. My parents go out to restaurants, and always order an entrée to share, and have never been “penalized” by sharing a meal. Despite my belief that this was ridiculous, and that it doesn’t make sense to tip the owner if they are serving you, I still tipped a little (regretfully, now).Understandably, I should have pushed back with the owner when he mentioned this extra charge when bringing the food, especially because he should have told us this when we ordered it, not when we received our food. And he knew we were sharing when we ordered, as they brought the fish out on 2 plates. If we knew we were going to be charged extra for sharing one entrée, we probably would have ordered 2 different meals to share (unless they would still charge for this?).In conclusion, the food is good, and the owner is fun to converse and spar with. But be careful with what you order, and if you are sharing a meal, make sure that you ask about any extra charges they may charge or spring on you when you receive it.UPDATED, after owner response: We didn't want our 2-piece meal split into 2 full meals. If we wanted that, we would have just ordered two 1-piece meals separately. We wanted to share the fries, tartar sauce and coleslaw that came with the 2-piece meal, not get extra, and we never asked for extra. And I'm not sure what you're talking about, with the drinks. My wife and I didn't order any of those drinks. You were wrong to charge extra for us splitting it. Your response to this shouldn't be telling people you charge for that in the future; it should be not charging extra at all.

Great food. Generous portions. Great atmosphere. You feel like you're having dinner at home with family and friends. The owner goes above and beyond to make you happy. Wonderful little diner with delicious food.

went for breakfast this morning at the urging of a newfie friend. The sarcastic charm of the owner didn't start off on the right foot for me. After being mocked for being unable to read, because I missed the sign that said 'please wait to be seated' in an almost empty restaurant and then being laughed at for my pronunciation of Toutons it should have been my indication to leave. But it was the Toutons I went for.My next urging to leave should have been when I was told I could only get Toutons with the menu items that included them. No substitutions were possible because that is why they have menus apparently. I can get a substitution at McDonald's for goodness sake.I ordered the newfie breakfast. It came with eggs that were perfectly cooked (not a high bar) and the Toutons, which were delicious. However, the Toutons are only served with molasses apparently also newfie. for one who hates molasses (I tried it again) the Touton experience was a let down due to the lack of maple syrup. It also came with bologna, which I don't care for and beans, which I love but not at breakfast. If you want nice eggs, excellent home fries and dry Toutons this is the place for you. The putdowns from the owner are free, I think.I've been there twice, the first time and the last time.

Went there for the first time with my girlfriends lastnight, Darryl was amazing, funny, and chatty, food was just as good. We'll definitely be going back to try out more things on the menu, and another Friday night laughing with the owner...Good Times

After today’s Spec article, my buddy and I decided to give Stage Diner a try. We were immediately greeted with Daryl’s infectious, outgoing personality, engaging the entire restaurant of customers with his charm. We were entertained and enjoyed our entire time in the diner from entry to exit. Whilst there, we both had their signature Tou Ton burger: this was a delight. Nestled between fried dough was beautiful red onions, lettuce, tomato, and a very generous patty, that actually doesn’t contain fillers. We were treated to a slice of Daryl’s lemon cheesecake made in-house: it was so good that I ate it too quickly to take a photo of. For unique take on diner food, with a fantastic charm, making it stellar dining experience, go here immediately!
