Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre

I didn't listen to the bad reviews and booked a night in this hotel while passing through thunder bay..... I should have listened...The building itself is beautiful, the location is nice and hidden away. However, I can say I've never had an experience at a hotel like this one... and not in a good way.I arrived after driving 10 hours. I went to my room to find clothes (under garments) from the previous guest still in the drawers, food in the hallways including a half eaten burger on the wooden panel displaying the room number, a human nail clipping in the bed sheets as well as a filthy floor that looked like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. I called the front desk and expressed my concerns. They said they could put me in a new room. I asked if the new one will be clean as I have been driving for 10 hours and I'm tired. His response was well

They advertised bathrobes and water bottles for the jetted tub king suite - got neither. The bar staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was very nice with some cleaning errors (used wash cloth left in the bathtub, long black hairs on floor), the outside was filthy and in a state of chaos (garbage everywhere). I am trying it out one last time at the end of July to see if there has been improvements since my last stay.

Good size hotel modern in the last 10 years or so. Pool and regular amenities rooms were up to date flat screens, fridge, microwave, and staff was polite and helpful. I didn't eat on-site but it smelled amazing. Very big conference rooms, banquet halls. Perfect for weddings.

My husband and I stayed here on our way to the West coast. We stayed in the Deluxe King Jacuzzi Suite, and it was luxurious! I absolutely loved the room, especially the rain shower and jet tub. The room was clean, and the bed was really comfortable. The building is quite deceiving because it doesn't look very appealing from the outside, but it is really nice and I would highly recommend staying here.

I made an error of checking in on the wrong date but the front service checked me in anyway because they thought I was someone else which was an error on their part.I checked in because I was unbeknownst to the error at the time and the front service did the whole process and I made a room deposit of $150 with a debit card and was told to retrieve it during checkout - sure, no problem.I get a room call later on the same day and was asked to come to the front desk. That's when we realize the error we've both made.We solve" it because the front desk actually checks me into the room this time and I cancel my actual check-in date. I ask about the room deposit but I get told it'll transfer over to the new room - cool. I pay for the room

I decided to book a more expensive business room. It was almost $300/night. what did i get for this:- Broken bedside reading light- Non functional power outlets beside the work desk- work desk light that was a $1 piece of garbage that just drooped down whenever you tried to adjust the light angle.When i checked out the lady behind counter didn't even ask how my stay was. The front counter people when i checked in and out had near 0 personality.The room did seem recently renovated and clean, but the rest of the hotel is super old looking and needs a major update.Save your money and spend half the price and book anywhere else in TBay. It will be the same or better.I will not repeat.

Stayed here for 3 nights, July 2023.Every day, there was garbage in the hallway, vacuuming after 10pm, and we had significant safety concerns.The room was clean and updated, and the front desk folks were nice, but I would never stay here again.

Great rooms , comfy beds. Pretty good restaurant and bar. The building needs some love which seems to be in the works.Will be back. A little pricey.
