CASA Child, Adolescent, and Family Mental Health

Had a family member come here for help and they were attentive and understanding. They took their time in assessing their needs and actually getting to the bottom of the real issue, they initially thought it was something else but determimed it was another similar issue, had no problem explaining why they changed their initial position and answered all questions asked. They referred them to a specialized program that provided preventative support to them. They told me that they still use those tips today! While they ended up not needed all of the help provided, they made it available to them and had affordable and other options available if they needed them. I guess everyone's experience is different but her's was great. I'd encourage anyone to try for themselves and not go based on review alone.

I can see that this government program is as bad as it used to be 20 years ago. I took my son for ADHD the psychiatrist did nothing but put my son on meds. My son then started with tardive dyskenesia and so I took him off and never went back.

I was there for my daughter, the therapist had no idea how to talk with a child. She talked about her diagnose beside my child ( she was 7). She had said she was thinking my child had anxiety... It was her first consultation!.. I didn't take her serious of course and didn't go there again, but for years my child use it at school and at home. She was saying 'Oh, I have anxiety' for any of her negative behaviour and she was using it as an excuse. It took a few years me to fix it and make my daughter believe that she has no anxiety. Thank God nothing wrong, she is very succesful and social teenager now.

More damaging then beneficial, pill pushing for antidepressants without doing a proper medical history. Mistreatment of conditions, no follow up, abandonment of patients.

we have been referred to CASA infinite times per annum for complex autism presenting in both my children with the self evident psychiatric overlays that accompany it. CASA is an urban myth. I have never heard back from them despite being referred through school psychologists, private psychologists, paediatricians and family physician. impossible and ridiculous non access to critical care at developmentally sensitive ages. What the hell.

Never helped my son

Would give 0 stars if I could. We had Dr. Mirzaian, and I understand that, to an extent, there are protocols to follow, but he made my sisters appointment so much more difficult for her in the beginning, it was not handled well on his part, barely addressed her as an autonomous person, as if she had no input into her own diagnoses, and it took 4 months for us to get this appointment because they lost her reference. For an organization dealing with youth struggling enough to be referred to a psychiatrist, I would never recommend them to anyone. Do better for these children. Even if he had good advice at certain points, they way things were brought about and talked about, were not effective or done well
