Shift Works Transmissions

I own an extremely rare matching number , low mileage 1971 Big block Cuda that was in the process of being restored. The transmission needed a rebuild and I was told that Rob at Shift Works was an old school guy that would do this job with ultimate care. Rob reassured me this was his policy he is a car guy and he knew the value of this car. The matching # aluminum transmission was rebuilt by Shift Works. Rob called me to come and pick it up it was done. The balance of the bill was paid and when I got the Transmission back, they had painted it with black paint. I said to Rob that the transmission is aluminum it was perfect and had been cleaned prior and should have not been painted. Rob at that moment said don't worry about it

My son took his car there to have a new clutch put in and some other work done. After picking up the car and driving it home, he noticed that it still was not quite right. He called Rob to let him know ,and Rob told him to bring it back the next morning so he could adjust it.When my son got it there, Rob found that the master cylinder went and said he would fix it. This was now on Saturday evening, but know he need the car for Monday morning to go to work, John went in on Sunday afternoon to get it done.I must say, they went above and beyond to help my son . Awesome job guys!!!!! We have already told friends about the shop . Keep up the excellent work.

Better name for this business would be Shifty Works"If zero stars was an option I would have chosen it.I put my classic muscle car in for a slipping transmission. They claimed my new torque converter went bad and sent metal into the transmission. Upon later inspection

Shift Works Transmissions was recommended to me in the past, and I've been to them several times. Super fair prices, and I found the work that they do is bang on! They've done a full transmission for me on my Toyota Celica, and I went back about 10 yrs later for a Clutch Replacement and found the same guys there. Can't say the same for many other shops out there.

Went in there with my 11 year old son looking for information on a transmission rebuild, the owner Rob seemed to have more interest in my 11 year old son than the questions i was looking for answers for, just the way he was eye balling my son gave me the creeps, like he was more interested in my boy than anything else, real creepy person.update.who the hell is Norm firstly, secondly you cannot be discredited enough, you've already done that to yourself by your actions.

I was there today asking for a refurbished alternator they got me one in one hour, and they put it in the next hour, beautiful job they do, and very friendly, I will recommend this place with all my heart the business is very friendly the men that work there as well,I will come there more often to get more work done on my vehicle.

I wish I could rate zero stars. My boyfriend brought his transmission here to be rebuilt. But half the work was already done as my boyfriend had started and realized he didn’t have one of the tools he needed. The transmission ended up sitting there for a month not being touched once. They kept ignoring his calls and then when he’d show up to see what was happening it was “going to be done in a day or two”. So after weeks of hearing it I went into the shop with him today to see what was up and as soon as Rob saw my boyfriend he ran to the back and sent out one of his employees to say sorry and that it will be done 2-3 days. We took the transmission and are bringing it to another shop because the job could be done in less than a day. Super unprofessional and as a car person with lots of car friends in the Durham region, I will be warning people of this place and NEVER recommend it.

My transmission went on my vehicle, so I brought it into Shift Works Transmissions based on the quality work that they specialize in. My car works great! Jon and Rob have done good work to my vehicle and will definitely refer them to the next person. Do recommend!
