Janzen's Pharmacy & Compounding Centre

Truly a terrible experience. I called and asked when my prescription would be ready and I was told at least half an hour. I'm epileptic and don't drive so I had to arrange a ride to the pharmacy. When I arrived 45 minutes later they couldn't find my prescription. They hadn't even started it yet even though two people were just standing around. I asked if I should wait or come back in a few minutes and she told me, we will have this done in half an hour. I had already waited 45 minutes since the last time she said half an hour. Even though this pharmacy is a couple blocks from my house I will not be returning to this location.

In a time of impersonal medicine Janzen Pharmacy and in particular Nurse Practitioner Greg Thinsley went above and beyond. I am so thankful for this group if stellar medical pprofessionals!

This is the only pharmacy in town that could mix my sons medication. I was busy the prior night so my dad went down and gave them the slip. They said “no problem! We will just need her and her sons info tomorrow when she picks it up.” My dad asked if he needed to pay for it and they said “nope all good, it will be ready tomorrow morning.” Well I went in there this morning and it wasn’t ready. The lady upfront told me they didn’t make it because I didn’t prepay. I asked her twice why I would need to pay if my son is only an infant. The Ontario Child Benefit should cover it. She insisted it didn’t so I had to drive home and get my debit. Once I got back she asked the pharmacist if she had billed it yet to which she responded “it’s free. Government covers children” it was really pretty fast after that but I still drove down there 3 times in 4 hours with a 2 month old. Not convenient but she was nice.

No one will answer the phone. I stayed on the phone for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to answer. I'll be in the middle of listening to the Jingle and they'll reloop it to the options menu as if I haven't already been over that. It's like they ignore anyone who just has general inquiries because it says to just stay on the line for other inquiries, but then it's like they're insisting you pick a number. The longer I stayed on the line the shorter the periods in between when it asked me to choose a number. It's like someone is pressing a button and they're getting more impatient the longer you refuse to give up. At one point it sounded like someone picked up the phone. I could hear them moving and then they hung up the line. Just seems unprofessional, it's like they were waiting for me to give up

On one instance I was given medication that I didnt order. I put my phone order for my medication and received a call a week and a half later saying it was ready. Well, I went to the store on Bay st. and it wasnt ready two medications were not ready, only one. So now I have to wait even longer for my medications. Now I have no more left and have to go to emergency at the hospital to get my medication because of the total incompetence of the people who work at this place......Time to change pharmacies if they cant get it right why stay in business? WORSE PLACE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH IN MY 50 PLUS YEARS IN THUNDER BAY.

They Claim to have a walk in clinic for Customers of their pharmacy. I tried to see someone. I was told they would fill out a form and I would be contacted in a couple days. I ended up having to go to the emergency. Which I was trying to avoid. The whole point of having the walk in clinic there was to take some of the burden off of the emergency.

Customer service is wonderful! The pharmacists are very knowledgeable!Great staff ! My husband & I have been going to Jansens for years!

Such a better alternative to shoppers. I recently went here to get some medication for my child. The dosing was off ( the dr prescribed wrong ) so I needed to speak to the pharmacist. They were pleasant and helpful and I’ll be going here from now on.
