I came here with high expectations and being a foodie I wanted to savor the famous smoked meat sandwich.The taste was fabulous, it had a perfect amount of spices and salt, right serving temperature and the portions are generous.But… for my taste the sandwich and the meat itself are a bit dry. When I was eating the last bites I was struggling to swallow because of the dryness.I went there on a rainy day and it was a 20 minutes line. We ate at the bar and it was difficult to enjoy our meal because the place was packed and there were always people behind us waiting in line to pay at the counter.From my point of view I think the place slightly overrated and you can find better smoked meat in Montreal without having to make a line or to be troubled by the cramped restaurant.

First time there and probably last. This place has become famous to a degree where they think they don’t need to make an effort. So if you have been drinking all night then it’s probably a good place other than that it’s just an over rated extremely expensive place. Our order for 2 came to over $40!!! That’s for 2x towering meet slapped between soggy white loaf, 2x cans and a small fries( what seems like it’s been soaked over night in oil then fried, then soaked in more oil. Oh and no pickle insight. Better going to a deli at a grocery store and load off the meat there and you might have money left over to buy a nicer bread.

This place is an institution in Montreal. Expect lineups out the door at any time of day and an absolutely packed restaurant. This might be some of the best smoked meat I've ever had PERIOD. The sandwiches are packed with smoked meat and are served modestly on very good rye bread and minimally adorned with mustard, which is fantastic because it really features the excellently seasoned brisket. That's it. It's busy and they like to turn the tables over quickly so don't be surprised if they bring you the bill before you ask for it. Not a place to linger and chat for an hour after lunch. The dill pickles are massive and wonderfully garlicky. Make sure to stop by their store next door to pick up a pack to take home. I'll be back next time I'm in Montreal.

Came here under recommendation that is was the best smoked meat in the city. There was a long line up to get in to sit down. We waited and eventually were seated at the bar stools to get in sooner.This place lived up to the hype. It was delicious. We had the #2 Poutine with smoked meat and #4 classic smoked meat sandwich. We also had great friendly service by the gentleman serving us behind the bar. Definitely would recommend and would come again. Worth the lineup wait.

Every time I am in Montreal this is a must. Due to the line up to eat in, I chose their takeout option.Perfect sandwich that was hot and made just for me. I was alsoable to grab a vacuum sealed package of brisket to take home to share.We've been coming here for years and anytime we have a substantial layover we will leave the airport for a quick bite.

Every time I visit Montréal I make sure to have at least one meal at Schwartz’s Deli. The place is legendary; part of the fabric that makes the city great. It is also a holdout from another era and can’t be missed. Naturally my favourite is the Smoked Meat Sandwich. You can see by my photo why. The yellow mustard pairs perfectly with the meat. A pickle and their slaw turns the moment into an event.Sit at the counter and enjoy their wonderful staff as they play and poke fun at each other. It can be quite entertaining.

Once we talked about Montreal, you cannot skip Schwartz’ Deli!!! Their smoked meat sandwich is AMAZING!!!!! A Montreal must try! It’s a bit hard to find a parking place but you can check out the back street behind the restaurant, plenty of parking spaces! And of course, it’s so tasty so prepare for a long line!!

It was SPECTACULAR! Worth the wait and worth every penny.The smoked meat sandwich (corned beef) was incredible. I see why everyone raves about it. The sides were great too (coleslaw, dill pickle, poutine and poutine a la Schwartz).Schwartz's does not disappoint! The seating is tight, but it works and hey, you might even make a friend or two.

So good. If you're visiting you Montreal, you can't miss this place. Don't let the line and crowded inside deter you. They're super friendly inside and it's absolutely 100% worth the wait. Get the typical smoked meet sandwich on rye and get a smoked meat poutine for the table.
