Sakana House Japanese Restaurant
Of the 2 sakanas in Barrie, this one has a much less crowded and better atmosphere compared to big bay point location. Fantastic food!

Second time here. This is one of the good sushi places, food is so fresh. Price has gone up, but so has everything else. Staff are nice, don’t bother you, the bring out the food fast. Definitely coming again.

Went in for lunch and was very good....freshness was tasted in all the dishes that where ordered...and there was alot ordered..lol...service was great and very polite.

Beef teriyaki was very buttery tasting, I would get that again. I think broth of the wonton soup was amazing and fresh. Mackerel sashimi was my favourite. The ingredients feel fresh and not too greasy. Oh and the Pork Chinese fried rice was the best friend rice I have ever had in my life.

Went with my boyfriend today, the salmon was off and slimy…my stomach has been upset since we left. They didn’t seem interested with anyone. We go to noble all the time, they’re fast and very focused on their customers, it may look run down but their food as well as their customer service is great. Also this place is crazy expensive for poor quality on everything.

Sakana House was the go-to Sushi place in town, however it’s definitely not the case anymore.Visited for a date night, and everything was mediocre at best. From getting seated directly in front of the front door with a draft coming in each time someone entered and exited, to the servers not being attentive enough - to even feel comfortable suggesting potentially being seated in a different section, to the below average sushi that was served, and a few items that never did get to the table… it was a night I could have done without. 2 Stars were given simply because the Spicy Avocado Hand Roll was delicious, I will admit.I’d like to be able to say I’d stick to takeout from Sakana House from now on - but I can’t confidently say I would after the experience.There are a few other Sushi establishments that come to mind that are a lot better and are actually worth going out to in my opinion.

This place has exceeded our expectations. We wanted sometime quick and easy after snowboarding and this hit the spot! Priced reasonably and good qualities. We definitely will be coming back! Was happy that there was a non-AYCE menu.

They're one of the best local places for sushi in terms of the actual food taste and quality but the service is really awful. It feels like the servers go out of their way to make you feel unwelcome and they always forget to bring out food, and when they actually do they just throw it on the table. I was in a group eating here the other day and they literally just never brought out half of what we ordered and this happened every time I've been here :/

I’m happy to say we finally had another good experience last night at this location. We have been on and off (mostly off unfortunately) customers since opening day and last nights experience will bring us back again! Food was good, 5 star (honestly, compared to where?) no, but good for Sushi in central Ontario, personally I found the salmon was great and their rolls were smaller and tightly rolled, service is incredibly fast and the staff is hospitable and the rock music was at a lower decibel (please change this, it’s a Sushi restaurant not a bar). Cost wise for 2 people on the weekend rate with one beer and one glass of wine was about $110.. not cheap but we left with a smile.
