Gives away your spot even though you call to confirm that your accepting it because the clinician wanted to fill the spot as quickly as possible" when I called back with in two hours tops... now I'm waiting again."

Hi Ontario Shores… I’ve been waiting for 3 yes 3 years for your PTSD program. My doctor has referred me at least twice. While waiting, I’ve been asking for updates and you won’t provide any. I’ve tried calling, emailing but you never respond. Today you finally called and as I answered you hung up… and no there isn’t a voicemail. What kind of a s*~t show are you running? Seems like nobody cares at this place. Keep up the great work.

There are pros and cons to being a patient of this facility. True representation of its mission statement is questionable. The standards of practice are contradicting and the potential for misinformation and misdiagnosis is relatively high. Faulty policies impede access and availability and impose restraints that are not always justified and can be considered as unjust punishment. The efficiency and effectiveness of evidence based science comes into question when the outcomes produced are indicating higher rates of suicide and death amongst Canadians. There are major changes and improvements required by the Federal government for better solutions and tighter oversight into the outcomes being produced by mental health care facilities.

My son committed suicide because your staff was underqualified and unwilling to receive feedback and/or suggestions from him (or me for that matter). I left several messages asking to speak to his counsellor telling her that i needed to provide information to her about his condition and how her lack of compassion was hindering his progress and not one response. If you want to jeopardize your life or that of someone you love then Ontario Shores is the place. They will literally do nothing for you until you're dead and then it's too late. Thanks though!!!

My wife has been here for almost 1 yr, after 4 months in a general hospital after attempting to take her life. Instead of providing a referral so she can be monitored in the home environment to assess her resiliency, even though it has been acknowledged multiple that this would be a good step, they are wanting to submit her to a shelter, A SHELTER!!!! Simply because my family situation cannot absorb the full responsibility and risk without supports! They are too stubborn to be willing to make the referral for in-home support for a short time. Instead, they have kept her for an extra 6 weeks INSTEAD of using the time to engage services to make the transition more successful. This is health CARE? WHERE is the CARE part? They only give lip service but NOTHING to back it up.P.S. Edit May 23, 2023: It has taken getting a lawyer involved to get the hospital to take a step back and re-evaluate. I'll update as developments unfold.P.P.S Edit Jun 20, 2023: Even though my wife has been there for over 13 months and there have been many months available to try, the staff refuse to try to improve her quality of life by adjusting medications to gauge her level of responsiveness while she is still in a safe, controlled and supported environment, which will be much harder to do on an outpatient basis. They seem to take the position that once stable"

While my interactions with employees and medical professionals have been positive, It is incredibly upsetting when, the clinician wanted to fill the spot as quickly as possible"

I am 18 years old with 4 other much older adults, one of which has disturbing psychotic episodes every day that I have to hear happening and the nurses most of the time just let her have them and do nothing to help, on my first day I was attacked by an old man out of nowhere, so I now spend all my days in my room and eat in my room. The nurses are dismissive and ignore you unless you knock on the window when the can clearly see you standing outside the nursing station. I withdrew my consent for ect( shock therapy) and the psychiatrist told me she is going to try to get my mothers consent so she does not need my. Nurse offered to take my clothes to the laundry and they have been lost and only after insisting for them to look for it for the whole weekend only on Sunday they asked me to write down the description of the clothes and apparent they cannot be found and that is 5 articles of clothing, 3 of which were taken off of me when i tried to strangle myself in the washroom so I would not have to go through this experience consciously. They did not ask me if I wanted those clothes to be taken to the laundry. They threw me to the ground and took my clothes away from me and then put me in a boxy sleeveless, scratchy gown. The washrooms are barely cleaned and are disgusting. They keep all my items such as snacks, books, clothing, electronics. When I expressed those concerns to the psychiatrist, she simply said you have a mood disorder and we are going to keep you here for weeks to monitor you

There is this social worker names Amy. She gets irritated very fast and yells in patients' faces for no good or virtuous reasons! Seriously, if you don't like the job that requires patience (OBVIOUSLY!), then leave! I even sent a complaint on her, and if it is a hospital of good standing they should have taken PROPER action!

I was admitted to edu (eating disorders unit) twice. They did no good for me except force my weight up a little bit which ultimately had no effect Bc I jus relapsed. I am in an ok place now but that is of no thanks to this place. They are dismissive, rude, and don’t listen to us and our needs. We would always be un attended during code whites. The things I saw and heard there I will never forget. Most traumatic things ever. And staff on several occasions made terrible and insensitive comments. Such as “u walk like me when I have chaffing” or “why do you have double portions when no one else does” Shoutout to nurse Victoria, Megan, Mandy, Maria, Dylan, Jamie, Shannon. I might be forgetting one or two. But the rest I have nothing to say. Overall worst and most traumatic experience of my life, do not recommend if u are seeking actual help for your ED.
