Cordova Bay Elementary

The principal is phony ,and the Vice President is cold , unfriendly an unapproachable .If you are considering sending your kids to this school please be careful minority and single parents. Watch out - they have the Ministry of Children and family Development on Speed dial. This school also have some inexperienced teachers who lack training on how to deal with young kids .

My special needs son, who had life threatening feeding/swallowing disorder and was blind/visually impaired at the time, was NOT safe at this school. He was severely bullied and abused on a regular basis in grade 1 and 2, and eventually required medical intervention and surgery from an attack on school property while in care of school staff. I hired child psychologist to deal with my son’s fear of going to school and the trauma response of not being able to focus in class, and was told my son was Not safe at this school and to remove him immediately. The trauma from ongoing bullying and further trauma from school principal Kelly Urarii and teacher Mrs. Verronneau, who in my opinion were not trauma informed, did not respond to the violence appropriately or adequately. The school district assistant superintendent Scott Stinson did NOT respond adequately or appropriately, and the school district has taken NO responsibility or accountability for the trauma and injury to my son. The cost to help my son recover has been extraordinary and ongoing. I had breast cancer and my recovery did not go as expected as I was continually advocating for my son’s safety. If you are a single parent and your child has special needs, I would not recommend this school. The anti-bullying policy at this school was a lot of talk and little action!
