Prominence Way Retirement Community

My grandparents just moved into this beautiful building and I can not say enough good about it. The staff are AMAZING! Everyone has been so helpful and amazing especially Karen and Jacqueline the marketing team. They have made a stressful process soooooo much easier. My grandparents are thriving and its so great to have peace of mind knowing they are taken care of. The food and facilities are fantastic. Highly recommend his retirement community!

I was very excited when my mother and stepfather chose Prominence Way. They seemed to offer what they needed as my mother was failing and my stepfather was her care giver. They initially offered alot of help and told them that if my mother failed more she could be moved to the 2nd floor so that they could be in the same facility. Unfortunately my step father passed suddenly in August and there was nothing they could do for my mother as there was no availability and she apparently needed more care than they could provide. I am sure they would not have chosen this place had they known this. She has finally had her assessment and is being placed this Monday in long term care. We were told by Prominence that when a bed became available she would have to move right away. Well it became available today but because there is not 30 days notice to Prominence she will be paying her extremely high monthly fee for the month of October as well as the fee for her long term facility. Very little caring or compassion on management's part!! It has been an arduous process in the midst of our grief. On a lighter note the care staff is wonderful. However I wouldn't believe anything the sales people tell you!

On a positive note, the building is bright, clean and newer but clearly lacking in the cheer department in the supportive living with dementia unit.I had a short tour of the supportive living with dementia unit for a loved one. A balcony is included on the unit with high frosted glass walls that can only be accessed by the residents on this floor with a family or staff member.What's the point? Hard to enjoy the views in a box. Sadly, this is all too common. Very unengaging and quiet. The TV was on with only text. Some music might be a nice change. Memory care should be the most engaging of all care. I didn't get a feel of that here.No comment on the rooms or size as one was not available to see.Very limited freedom, if any, to what they have left.

My inlaws have very much enjoyed living at Prominence Way. Such a beautiful building and quiet location. The staff have been so helpful and having a wonderful Doctor coming to the residence regularly has been a great help. I've been very impressed with all the help the staff have provided, especially this year.

Today my wife and I took a tour of their secure dementia unit on behalf a relative who has recently been assessed by Alberta Health Services. We want to choose a social/engaging, caring environment with access to the outdoors, views and fresh air. Which we believe will help our relative thrive and call home.Unfortunately it seemed very institutional. Never even got to see an apartment come to think of it. Once you look past the new furniture, flooring and environment. The place had no warmth or vibrancy/sign of life. Just empty hallways and dining area. Every apartment door was closed. Only saw three or four residents. You could hear a pin drop. The balcony was quite small, accessible only with supervision, not to mention the fact you couldn't see anything through the the tall frosted glass panes. I imagined standing in a big balcony sized box with the top open to let some sun in, very sad in our opinion.Dementia is unfortunately a terrible disease. The least we can do is pick a place that is not.We'll keep looking until we find that place. Hope somebody finds this review helpful.

Poor management with some very poor services. Some employees are very rude and very unprofessional with bad attitudes. Sometimes some staff, nurse and others, stay together gossiping in front of the residents during working hours. My family made some compliments of the care staff, but unfortunately they never want to do something. we want to my family to move out.

My father lived here and the staff treated him very good. And for the most part he really enjoyed the meals that they provided. It is comforting to know that your loved ones are in good hands.

I have been a resident of Prominence Way Retirement Community for 10 months and can honestly say it has been the best decision I ever made. Not only is it a beautiful building , the food has been great as well!We have certainly had our challenges since March 15 because of the COVID pandemic but our management and staff have gone over and above to keep us safe . All of our residents have become our new family and we all look out for the rest. I would highly recommend this facility if you are looking for a new home for yourself or a loved one !

My mother-in-law moved into Prominence Way in November 2020. Our experience from the first intro meeting until move-in date and every day since could not have been better.She has flourished at PW, physically, mentally and emotionally.Every staff member we have been in contact with has been 5 star!Big kudos go to Karen W who has been our super go-to person from day one.My mother in law loves the community, the food, the social interactions, the staff and the fact that she has as much independence as she wants while having the support that she needs.I love the fine ladies that are at the concierge desk every time my husband and I visit her. They are vigilant about covid screening and obviously have the safety of all residents top of mind.I think it is awesome that in such a short time span, the concierges have recognized us and greet us by name whenever we visit.My mother in law is not in a home; she is at home.I would be happy to be a reference for anyone who is considering living there or for family members who want reassurance that their loved one(s) will be content, happy and safe.

The pandemic has been difficult for everyone but especially for our seniors. My mom moved in almost a year ago at a difficult time in the pandemic. Karen, Jenna and Rachelle were outstanding when it came to ensuring my mom was accepted into the Prominence community and ensuring she was taken care of and made to feel safe and secure. The on site doctor took on my mother's care and it has been nothing short of caring, compassionate and outstanding!!There's no doubt that it's a beautiful facility to live in. Who wouldn't want to live where you can swim, exercise, cook, have a morning/afternoon coffee with friends and have at your disposal healthy, tasty, and beautifully presented food, three times per day. The activity calendar is full of options for everyone!! The staff are friendly and go above and beyond not only for the residents but for their families as well. I joke with my mother that I'd like to live there too someday! We're so grateful that PW had an opening when we needed it the most!
