My Husband and I had such a great time working on the first dance for our wedding with Joel. Since both of us were beginners, we were initially looking for a choreographed dance but very soon realized the benefits of the natural dance approach that didn't require us to memorize any dance moves and allowed us to enjoy the moment instead!Joel was an amazing instructor and in just 4 lessons, gave us the confidence and skill set for a beautiful first dance. He was extremely enthusiastic and encouraging. It was an absolute pleasure to learn from him. We will definitely be back!

We took intro to ballroom lessons with Joel years ago and he was such a positive influence in our lives that we immediately came back to him for our wedding dance lessons. Joel is a detailed and professional coach and really tailors his lessons to your needs. But more important than anything else, he is an kind and caring soul who goes out of his way to make your experience perfect. We are SO glad we chose JC Dance Co to get us comfortable dancing for our wedding. We had 4 1hr lessons in Vancouver where we danced and learned different moves and it made us feel super comfortable and confident leading up to our wedding dance! We did a trial at a different place but they wanted to do many lessons teaching us a full variety of ballroom steps, all felt way too formal and structured for our wedding. In contrast, JC Dance Co taught us a simple step that felt natural and relaxed, and then taught us fun spins, lifts, and dips that we could throw in and showed us how to structure our dance (like a loose routine). Clara worked with us and she was so fun, friendly, and always smiling. One of the most fun parts of our reception was when we did a spontaneous last dance" at the end of the night and with everything Clara taught us it was so easy and fun to make it up as we went! Learning to dance together is something we can now take with us

We wanted our first dance after our wedding to be special, and Joel made it happen. We were absolute beginners. But Joel was a great teacher whose good humour, clear instructions, and easygoing demeanour kept us progressing at a good pace and made the learning process fun. By our wedding day, we were doing turns, leans, and dips, and we had lots of compliments from our guests. We had so much fun that we still put on a song and dance in the living room from time to time. We decided to take dance lessons with our parents for the father/daughter, mother/son dance. We initially had grand plans for our dance, and Joel was so patient and fun with the 4 of us. Ultimately we decided to go with something a little more simple, and Joel again was super understanding and patient and taught us to feel comfortable dancing with one another and look natural with a few spins added in. The lessons were filled with a lot of laughs and led to everyone feeling excited about the dance on the wedding day rather than nervous.My husband and I were able to take everything we learned and apply it to our own dance as well. The lessons were an absolute blast and one of our favourite pre-wedding activities. We would recommend JC dance to any couples and any couples/parents before the big day!
