BC Ferries Buckley Bay Terminal

Good terminal, short wait, quick crossing.

In high season ferry is shuffling the guests otherwise on schedule

July 18/2018.I use BC ferries frequently to hop across to these Islands up and down Vancouver Island.I have a ebike and can cruz these islands without any efferent.I’m here for the view.Both Denman Island and Hornby Island have lot to offer,many different craft places.Use a GPS to navigate,it’s easier.I like E Rd on Denman because of the views you get on east road,your now looking at Hornby.If you have time continues on too Chrome Island,more nice views.At trails end from the parking lot to the point is 30 mins hike.Take time to look over the main part of town on Denman .I didn’t venture around on foot because of the bike although the luehr was there to checking out a few places.Fillongley Provincial Park is close by for camping with washrooms.Not very much traffic on the islands the times I have been here.Ride Safe.Take care.

Always a busy place but is well planned out and clean. Staff are friendly and approachable. Will answer questions and direct you to where you need to be in line. Bring a book and be prepared to wait at times. You can reserve a spot on Ferry but they only have so many spots available. There are public washrooms available.

Needs better system to indicate the vessel is in shuttle mode instead of nothing indicating what the vessel is on. I would hope BC Ferries invests in signs to indicate if the vessels in shuttle mode or following the schedule.I would BC Ferries invests in making the terminal bigger because the line gets back up to light which could effect local traffic not heading to Deman Island.But overall the terminal does its jobs. Also vessel crew make sure to pack vessels to make sure more people make this sailing and reduce wait times at terminal,

Staff are courteous but that is about the only thing it has going for it. Amenities are severely lacking especially when you are required to wait a sailing or two. The wireless service provided both by BC Ferries & Shaw Communications are weak and barely give a usable signal in the lineups; one being in the concession area and the other still back on the highway.

So awesome crews so friendly and sailing ⛵so smooth.

Summer lineups to Denman and Hornby Islands are very very long. 1-3 hour waits are normal even mid week. Poor planning by BC Ferries installing a limited capacity cable ferry has not helped. Better to pick somewhere else to tour.

Absolutely love that they have planted strawberries in the park area planters!
