I guess if you call the hotline countless times and wait on hold for countless hours, they don't take your information and add it to your registration application.

It's impossible to speak to someone. I applied for Status for my son on March 30, 1995 and am still waiting for a response. Regardless of contacting the Complaints and Allegations department, they don't respond. This department is a disservice to Canadian people and should be ashamed of how horrible their service or lack of is!

Waited 48 minutes on HOLD. Then when someone finally picked up, he transferred me to someone else. (I've been waiting for my renewed band card since November, also unacceptable) Then i was told that someone will call me back within 2 weeks. Mind you the man on the phone was absolutely kind and understanding but this is the PERFECT example of how horrendous our government is to indigenous people. This reminded me of an episode in 1923 where an elder asked another elder how had they been waiting in line for service from the government and the elder reply's: TWO DAYS treating them like garbage as usual. Please, if you work there, fight for the people that have no choice but to use your service.

It has now been 3 years and 5 months since I first applied for renewal. 6 weeks ago I was told I’d have my status card in a couple of weeks, after I threatened to alert the media to this agencies blatant unwillingness to issue status cards. When you call they tell you someone will return your call in 7-10 business days… but no one ever calls. And when you become angry about their obvious incompetence, they get annoyed. It’s clearly on purpose at this point. I let it slide 3 years ago due to the pandemic. But now that I’ve had to send it a second time and there is still a delay, I no longer believe it’s an accident and I will be contacting the news outlets to address this clear violation that their government continues to levy against natives.
