Lord Lansdowne is a wonderful establishment with caring and accommodating staff. The facility is in a wonderful location, surrounded by some of Ottawa's most beautiful sites. From the food to the activities and events to the engaging staff, Lord Lansdowne has everything needed to make a place feel like home. The staff and management are able to accommodate all residents and provide them with the best care and attention.

Upon discharge from double, partial- knee replacement surgery I went to respite at the Lord Lansdowne in the Glebe where I enjoyed a lovely studio flat with fantastic care and excellent meals. There is a fabulous team of professionals there with very thoughtful staff that assisted in my pain management and anything else that I required. Within a few days I was able to work from my flat with the benefit of wi-fi, as well as enjoy a record-breaking recovery thanks to the team and supportive environment at Lord Lansdowne. As a Realtor, I had the opportunity to experience retirement living and to better understand the transition that many of my clients are about to face. In my experience, Lord Lansdowne was safe, caring, clean, and I enjoyed the food and special care.It feels like a wonderful choice for active and supportive retirement living. I would not hesitate to recommend Lord Lansdowne.

I would definitely recommend Lord Lansdowne Residence. We brought our mother to the residence in June 2021, as we knew beforehand that the staff and caregivers were dedicated and caring. Our mother immediately felt well cared-for during a trying time. My siblings and I were very grateful for this. The care staff are professional and compassionate. We knew right away that we had made the right choice. The facility itself is very nice, and well-maintained.

My husband and I recently moved my mother at Chartwell Lord Landsdowne. She's been there now for a few months and wanted to take the time to provide an accurate review of our experience with the staff and environment. With the challenges and stresses during COVID lock down, the staff has been fantastic at ensuring they were following protocols but also making the transition as easy as possible for both my mother and for ourselves as this process was new to us.Sarah was attentive and provided us with all the details we needed (and answered all our questions) to put our mind at ease. We had looked into other retirement facilities as well and we felt Lord Landsdowne had all the services needed to make my mother comfortable. What we appreciated most is how understanding and flexible they were when we needed to adjust the services for my mother (who at times can be quite challenging to please as she is very set in her ways), but that never posed an issue for the staff and it was quite clear they wanted to do what was best for my mother and what was going to relieve as much stress off of us.Putting an aging parent into a retirement home is not as easy as we thought. To make a smooth transition work, it requires knowledgeable and friendly staff, clear communication, and transparency. Most importantly, it requires staff that understands what the new resident and families go through. This is a huge change for anyone.Although my mother is still not taking advantage of the all the programs they have, I can see that there is a lot for the residents to do to keep them active and sociable (all while ensuring safety protocols). We are truly grateful for the staff there and my mother has settled in nicely.Thank you - Vanessa & Abdeen

Hi as an employee at Lord Lansdowne I realize that my opinion could be skewed but I put family first. This summer when my Mother in law became ill and could no longer care for herself at home, and all of her kids having full time jobs, it seemed obvious that the place to go was Lord Lansdowne. Her health care was our main concern, and the care and support from the nursing staff was second to none. they really do care. The rest of the staff also were very accommodating and did as much as they could to ensure her comfort. The accommodations are modern and spacious the food is great and the entire staff care deeply. For anyone who is looking for an alternative place to live for a loved one I highly recommend it.

Beware: Unethical and driven by salesOur father who is 85 was diagnosed (by a neurologist) with vascular dementia over 10 years ago. He had been managing in his own home with the help of his wife. Unfortunately over the course of COVID it became abundantly clear that our father could no longer safely live independently. My sister and I took over his banking, medical care, etc. In the interim, we arranged for in-home care which bought us some time while we decided on next steps.During this interim period we explored several options, one of which was visiting Chartwell, Lord Landsdowne. We visited the property and met with the sales rep (Retirement Living Consultant) on 2 separate occasions. She stayed in contact with us with regular emails (as they do). Also during this interim but AFTER we had visited with my father and my sister, some “well meaning” friends of our fathers made an appointment for our father and his wife to rent an apartment (with no consultation or communication with us). Thankfully Dad’s caregiver figured out that a coffee date was actually an appointment to rent a unit and contacted me immediately.I had to frantically call around to several retirement homes in the Ottawa area to locate our father. When I finally did locate him, he was minutes away from signing a LEGALLY BINDING contract to rent a unit in Lord Lansdowne (the contract was being printed out).Luckily, I had her cell number and texted her to call me. When she did call I expressed my grave concern. Her response was not to support or agreement but rather she:1) Told me that my Dad seemed fine to her and that SHE had not noticed any memory issues.2) Told me I would have to present papers to show that we had guardianship for our father. When I told her that my father did not have the income to cover the monthly rent and provided her with a letter from his doctor stating that he no longer managed his money, she finally backed off. There are many alarm bells that ring loudly from this scenario. The ones that rind the loudest are:1) Her observations of Dad “being fine” made it abundantly clear that she has NO knowledge of the many ways that dementia can present.2) Her choice to NOT call or email us when Dad was about to sign rental papers (when she knew we were looking after his care) clearly illustrate that her only motivation is PROFIT and not the well being of the residents.3) The lack of ANY apology or explanation for her actions. The entire situation caused my sister and myself a huge amount of stress in an ALREADY stressful situation.I am so glad that we ended up finding a superior care situation for Dad and I would NEVER recommend this facility for any loved ones.

My father died on Thursday Oct. 1st 2020. The last time I saw him smile was when we were in the hospital and I told him he was going back home to Lord Lansdowne. He has lived there for over 5 years and was not particularly easy to get along with. The staff there however, no matter what, were kind, patient and very caring. They are truly amazing people. He usually criticized things about his experiences with hospitality services in his life but NEVER had a bad thing to say about this retirement residence. I could not believe how caring and loving the staff were there, it was like he was truly their family. They treated him so well I could never thank them enough. Anything we needed they took care of immediately without hesitation. The rooms were cleaned daily, the food was top flight and they always called us immediately when something was wrong. I would highly recommend this retirement home to anyone who really wants the best quality of life for their loved ones. We were there often and saw that 5 stars is not high enough.-Laura David (Mr. David)

We've found the staff and facilities at the Lord Lansdowne to be first-rate. Caring and competent people, a lovely atmosphere and good food. Good quality medical services are available on-site and there is plenty of daily programming. A reliable shuttle service is available. And the Lord Lansdowne is very pet friendly. The Lord Lansdowne team also managed the COVID pandemic very well, with no serious cases among staff or residents. Overall, not much more to hope for in a retirement residence.
