Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF)

So we just finished the adoption process for the second time through ARF and I will never adopt elsewhere. Last year in March we adopted our dog Indigo from them. Everything from start to finish was so easy. She came with her first vaccines a round of deworming and the best part free eight week training course. It was such a game changer and helped us bond with our puppy and continue to grow the bond.On Monday we received our two kittens from them and again it was an easy and pleasant process. The allowed us to visit multiple times until we found the kittens we felt would be a good fit with our already existing pets.It’s sad to see how many people reviewing don’t seem to understand how adopting a pet isn’t just like going to a store pointing and getting whatever you want.I am so thankful ARF takes the time to make sure that the animals they place in homes are good fits for those homes.I could rave forever, I am constantly sending dogs and cats to my friends to encourage them to start their adoption process

We had a great experience with the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) with the recent adoption of a senior cat.The communication with both the Adoption Coordinator and Foster was fast and attentive, and the overall adoption process was quick.The we got to meet the cat with the Foster Parent at the facility in a nice room for about 1 hour, which was wonderful.The paperwork was all able to be handled electronically, which made it simple. They offer 6 weeks of complimentary pet insurance through Pet Secure, which was a nice touch.We would highly recommend ARF.

Filled out the adoption form and sent it in over a week ago and did not get a response, so I looked around for reviews of ARF to see what other people's experiences were.Although I can appreciate that they want to do what's best for the dogs in their care, their process can leave some people feeling a bit alienated and it seems like its tough to get approved for an adoption. Some people who are or would be good dog owners just don't make the cut.No dog owner is perfect off the get-go. Training classes are for both the dog owner and the dogs, and sometimes people just need to opportunity to learn from owning a dog.If you see a dog of theirs you like, I would still suggest you try and adopt. You never know, you might still get approved and the application process makes you think about somethings you may have not thought of before about the responsibility of owning a dog. I recommend, however, you don't get your hopes up.If you don't get approved, don't lose heart! There are other rescues out there with other lovely dogs in need of good homes.

The staff and foster volunteers are absolutely amazing! We inquired about a cat and received very detailed emails from both the shelter and foster parent sharing her history, personality, food preferences, etc. It was amazing to see the amount of care they put into their adoptions! We've adopted several animals in the past and know how busy the shelter can get and how hard the volunteers work, to see this level of care was incredible.

I visited the Trinity Hills Petsmart yesterday and would like to enquire about the kitten Milo. He's being kept in an enclosure all by himself. I've spoken by the staff today over phone and she sworn he's being taken care of fantastically and that he's not being by himself - they have staff interacting with him all day. But when i first asked about him, she thought he's not there (adopted). How can they be interacting with him all day and not know whether he's still there or not? She said he has toys, food and water but I didn't see these yesterday and I spend over 45 mins there observing him (and no, there's no staff interacting with him). She claimed that that must have been a time when the staff was cleaning his cage... Anyway, she also said that Milo cannot have soft toys as he's ripping them apart. I felt terrible for Milo. Since his litter mate has been adopted, can he go to a foster home instead of being caged alone? He looks depressed as can be expected. He's very social and a loving, intelligent kitten but I felt like he's dealing with depression for being alone with no mental stimulation. He craves attention and interaction. This prolonged caging alone thing at this stage of his life could create life long behavioural issue causing foreseeably more abandonment issue throughout his life, not to mention future well-meaning but frustrated adoptive owner(s). Please, I am just hoping ARF would do all it can to prevent this for Milo. Regards.

I moved to Calgary last year and was desperately wanting to get involved in rescue. After doing my research and talking to friends who foster I decided Arf was the best fit for me. I became a cat foster in August and it has been a wonderful experience. Rachel is always attentive and helpful when I have a concern or question ( no matter how silly I am being ) . I was given every supply you could ever need and I can always pick up more if I need it. I went out of town and Rachel arranged for my kittens to stay with another foster without any hesitation so I didn’t have to worry while I was away. I love that I have been able to be heavily involved in the adoption process and have built lasting relationships with the kittens new families. I highly recommend hopeful fosters and adopters check out Arf! I can’t wait to get more involved in the future and foster dogs once I have a fenced in yard !

I have volunteered and fostered with ARF for a little over two years now and can’t speak highly enough of them! They clearly care about their animals and always take the time to provide resources for volunteers and find great homes for their animals.The foster coordinators go above and beyond to provide help and guidance, and always make sure each home has the equipment and support they need to care for each animal. I would highly recommend adopting, fostering, or volunteering with ARF!

Although we didn't end up getting a cat from ARF I would like to review how absolutely amazing their staff and foster volunteers are. We inquired about a cat and what we received back as a response showed how much these individuals truly care about these animals. The response came from both the shelter and the foster parent describing in great detail the personality and actions of the cat. In all my dealings with the other available shelters I have never received such a detailed response. I truly felt like I knew the cat before we even would have taken the chance to meet her

I adopted 2 kittens from ARF and had an amazing experience. They're extremely helpful and very kind throughout the process and I can tell they really took care of the kittens I adopted.
