Invictus Charters

We went out on a fishing charter yesterday and we had an amazing day of fishing on the ocean. Gerry is an excellent captain and very knowledgeable about where to find the fish.

We had an awesome time fishing with Captain Gerry. He knew where to find the salmon as we hooked into some nice spring salmon. We caught our limit of prawns and crab as well. Made for a great family day outing! Thanks Captain Gerry!

We booked for our family of 5 adults. We lost count of how many fish we pulled in. Gerry didn’t stop the whole time we were out. He was running around helping us reel in our catch, telling jokes, entertaining us and keeping us laughing. He provided tales of local stories while we waited for the next rod to start shaking. We had an awesome day on the water. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thanks Gerry for being a terrific host! We will definitely be back!

It’s a shame to see the bad reviews, they seem fishy (pun intended). Our experience with Gerry was fantastic. We took a family trip for the 5 of us, and it was very enjoyable. Gerry was very kind and super educational! Although we didn’t bring any fish home, we released plenty and will definitely be coming back again and telling family and friends! I’ve never really fished before but I had an amazing time, and definitely recommend Invictus Charters to anyone thinking about trying it out.

Captain Jerry is a top class angler guide! His passion for fishing just rubbed off on us. If you are in Nanaimo and would love to fish. He's my man for the job!

We had an amazing trip out with Gerry! Couldn’t have asked for a better captain. We caught 10 beautiful salmon in just a couple of hours! Lots of prawns too. Gerry was so informative about local species; invasive species and fish conservation efforts. What a spectacular experience! Thank you Gerry

went out fishing with my husband and Captain Gerry from Invictus Charters. Made it very easy on where to meet and what we needed for day on the water near Nanaimo. My husband has been out a few times before with Gerry at different locations and always caught a bunch of fish. we had a great time, he knew where the best fishing spots were. Gerry tells a bunch of jokes and stories on the water and will answer any question about fishing or the area. Had 2 double headers and hooked many salmon, even took home some prawns & crab for dinner. Would recommend Invictus Charters …. See you next time Captain Gerry

We Had a great fishing day with Gerry of Invictus Charters! Caught more salmon than I ever seen before. He is a great captain and guide!

Avoid this charter. I booked one month in advance requesting salmon and crab based on a great experience I had a year before in Sooke. I definitely regret not driving the extra hour.Upon landing in Victoria, Gerry called me multiple times to coordinate our meet. He boasted about the amount of salmon he was catching. I told him that we would also like to catch some crab as they are in season in the month of June. He assured me that we would do both and that we would be able to keep what we caught (the reason we came).Just seconds after meeting Gerry at the marina, he got into an altercation with an elderly gentlemen who had parked “illegally” in the virtually empty parking lot. Gerry told the man that he couldn’t park there and proceeded to close his door on the man’s leg. It seemed that Gerry wanted to show us who was boss.We drove a mile or two from the marina to the fishing spot. We trolled the area and to Gerry’s credit we caught lots of beautiful salmon. However, they were not in season (something Gerry kept from us) and we had to release every single fish. This was the biggest tease I’d ever experienced. Gerry refused to let any of us set the hook. He would run from the captain’s seat when a fish was on, nearly falling on a few occasions.After a couple hours of catch and release, I asked him about the crabs. He said I should have told him earlier that I wanted crabs, which I had multiple times! Then I asked if we could fish for others species (lingcod, rockfish) that we could keep. He said he didn’t have the equipment!$800 for 4 hours of catch and release is not worth the price. And Gerry’s sneaky and unprofessional behavior made it even worse. As an ambassador to the town of Nanaimo, Gerry succeeded in soiling its reputation.
