Bernstein's Deli
Fist time here and what a great experience! Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We went for their Le burger week entry. What a great burger if you love cheese. Great seasoned and flavorful patty. The sauce was the perfect addition to balance it all. We absolutely will return to try more of the menu.

A great local eatery and business blended in one place. I ordered their signature breakfast hash and it was amazing. The are a part of local frequency app and you also get 5% cash back if you pay using your app.

I haven't been back here in years. It hasn't changed a bit. Well, they have added plexiglass shields between the booths, but the food is every bit as good as I remember. I was also very pleased thar despite the vax mandate being over they asked to see my POV, these days I really appreciate that detail.A new addition, since I was last there, was a Bison Ruben. It was delicious and I had a real battle saving half of it for my wife. I scared down a bowl of their borscht without pause and had to order a bowl of their daily special, mushroom and barley, for my better half. My friend had a toasted sandwich which she also enjoyed. The neat thing about this place is that the restaurant is an adjunct to their deli, and you pay for your meal at the register, which makes it very easy to make a few additions to take home. I picked up a pound (300 gr) of some very nice lean corned beef and two chicken schnitzel which did a very nice job as protein in the next days supper. It is a great place still, parking is a bit tight, but keep away from the peak hours and you will be well rewarded.20220506Went back for breakfast. They are still checking for proof of vaccination so imuno compromised can be a bit safer. We had latkes and sandwiches and they were fabulous as usual.

My boyfriend and I attempted to try Bernstein's Deli for the first time in March after finding them online in search of a good Reuben. To say that I was a little disappointed is an understatement when we excitedly arrived at the restaurant only to find that they had just closed early for the day. We later learned that they were short-staffed with employees isolating at home due to COVID-19. Fair enough. I'm glad to see a business being responsible and respecting the health of their customers and staff. Since then, I'd been eager to give them another chance the next time we were in Winnipeg. It's now May, and the Classic Reuben with a side of tangy coleslaw and two pickle spears was well worth the wait! The sandwich had a good amount of corned beef that was complemented by the hot mustard. I'd also recommend the Cheese Knishes; they were mildly sweet and served with strawberry compote and sour cream. Overall, Bernstein's was a delicious and comfortable dine-in experience. Their COVID safety precautions exceeded recommended protocols and were much appreciated; masks were strongly encouraged and staff were wearing them, plexiglass barriers separated the booths, and they required proof of vaccination when we were there (but are no longer doing so due to a downward trend in hospitalizations).

Bernstein's Deli
I’ve been to Bernstein’s Deli a number of times over the years. I think a staff member said they’ve been around for 30+ years the last time we visited. The restaurant has decent food with modest diner décor. It has more of a home cooking feel than anything else – so not as flavorful (or as well seasoned) as some other restaurants in the area. They have a number of prepared soups that you can buy frozen or unfrozen in the deli area which are reasonably good. The deli also has a selection of bread, meats and other products to purchase. Overall the restaurant food is good, but in my opinion, doesn’t measure up to competitors like Stella’s and I think Bernstein’s prices are too expensive for what you get. For example, we paid over $50 or more for a breakfast (i.e., with coffees and a side order or latkes) the last time we were there for two people which I thought was a bit much.

Went to Bernstein’s for a lunch. First time in many years. If you go I recommend the Rueben and the matzah ball deluxe soup. My kids had the pancakes which was fine. I ordered home fries and they came out as French fries. Call ahead or the wait can be quite long. the chicken soup is made right and the matzah balls taste so good my kids even loved them. The. Five stars is for the Jewish penicillin

I'd come back, sure, simply because the food is really good, but come expecting to be seen 4 times by staff tops. Once for menus, once for orders, once with food, and once with a bill. Sort of the military grade" of restaurant service

Used to work nearby and have lunch from here often. So many things are so delicious. The egg salad is perfect. The club sandwich is wonderful. The breakfast is incredible and the burgers are delicious. We were in the area so we decided to pop in for lunch. I had a club sandwich in multigrain and it was as good as I remember and my husband had a reuben and says it was very good. He especially liked the spicy mustard in it. The staff were quick and great as I remembered and the prices are still reasonable.

Suggested improvements, more dressing on salad, remove pressure to tip from menu.
