Urban Cottage Landscapes

We have worked with Martin and Judy over the past year while redesigning and landscaping our backyard, side walkway and driveway. We have been so impressed with the ideas and creativity that went into all of it. We ended up with design elements that we could not have envisioned without their expertise. We now have our cottage backyard oasis in the middle of the city! Thank you Martin and Judy!

Working with Martin was a special experience, he is a deep listener and his style is to create a landscape that you will personally connect too.I initially consulted with Martin to get his advice on what trees to plant in my front yard. He came up with an intuitive design"/idea that far exceeded my expectations. I would like to share my very positive experience with Martin and Judy. Given that we were in a new house, our backyard was a blank canvas and we needed to create some serenity and privacy to enjoy our outdoor space. Enter Martin; he was very knowledgeable and collaborative in his approach and subsequently provided two designs for our backyard. We chose one, which we thought best suited our needs, incorporating berms for the evergreens, lovely plantings around the garden to create the feel we were looking for. Martin of Urban Cottage Landscapes did a marvelous job of designing and creating a berm in our yard, integrating stones from the garden into his creation. He is knowledgeable and friendly, easy to work with.

Martin listened to me, took my rudimentary ideas and turned them into exactly what I wanted in a way that fit my house and property perfectly. People regularly stop on the street to tell me how beautiful the house and gardens look. Urban Cottage Landscapes took a dump of a yard and turned into something lovely. Along the way, they taught me how to do a lot myself for which I am incredibly grateful.

Martin created a beautiful flagstone patio oasis for us, preserving my plants, moving not hauling out and bringing in new materials, to create knolls located to enhance both privacy and nature’s beauty. He didn’t bring in heavy machinery, nor create the noise and property damage most landscapers do. I have armour stone, yes, but beautifully integrated with the stone already available. I can’t wait for him to come back for my reflecting pond and garden reading nook upgrade! Pictures to come once I finish my plantings!

Judy and Martin are lovely people who collectively created a beautiful and peaceful waterfall and pond that I had always envisioned. I cannot believe how natural looking it is - like it was already part of our backyard and had been there for decades! I am so happy with Martin's work. What a kind and hard-working man he is. Everything he did was done without machinery. All physical labour! I will always be grateful to Judy and Martin for the gift of my tranquility waterfall. I am so pleased with it. Zanna
