Ware Academy of Music

I'm glad to have found Ware Academy for group theory lessons (L5 to L8) for my son. I appreciated Peter taking the time to explain their methodology and approach to the lessons when I first contacted Ware Academy for the theory lessons.Lynn is an amazing teacher and she made the class interesting for the students. My son always looked forward to the lessons. The lessons came with practice sheets as well as weekly tests. Lynn made sure to spend extra time to go over any concepts she found the students struggling during the tests.I can attest to the fact, the theory lessons provided a solid foundation for my son to prepare him for the level 8 exam and beyond.

I took Harmony and History courses here at Ware. Both teachers taught amazingly, and despite the difficulty of the material, I thoroughly understood it. Partially due to the clarity of the textbooks, and partially due to the clarity of the teaching.Classes are unique and very engaging, presented with enthusiasm and care. They are fast-paced, but still taught with attention to detail-generating great marks!I personally found classes to be very fun and I enjoyed all the time that I had here.Thank you, Lynn and Peter, for the wonderful teaching! I am deeply grateful for all that you've done, and I wish you the best for the future.I highly recommend Ware Academy to any musicians with a strong passion for a deeper understanding of music.

I learnt harmony and history both 9,10 there and i did not like their method. The specialized books that they personally made were way too complicated than the RCM ones. They make students memorize EVERYTHING rather than teaching them concepts with weekly tests. Personally, i would rather learn than memorize so i rate this place a 1 but if u think otherwise, i respect

I've been a student of both Lynn and Peter Ware for almost two years now and I've got to say, I've been glad with the results. I have really enjoyed every piano course and have learned a lot from Lynn's skillful music theory classes. Both teachers are understanding and encouraging. Peter's classes are very detailed and he definitely puts a lot of feeling into music. As far as I know, Lynn's classes are interesting and filled with knowledge.For anyone having the need to find a good music teacher, I've been there too and I can happily say this is a good choice.In the end, I just want to say, Ware Academy of Music is a really good place to start off or continue your journey in music.

I've taken all my theory courses in Ware Academy of Music for four years from Lv8 to ARCT, and most of the theory marks are 90+. What I like most about their textbooks is they provide a clear learning and homework schedule that I can track my process every week. It's well designed from the first week of the session all the way to the week before the exam including final review and mock exam. All key points in each chapter are highlighted, and lots of after-lesson practice sheets too.I've experienced both in-person small group lessons and online lessons (due to the covid), both ways are interactive and efficient. Thanks to my theory teachers Peter, Lynn, Paul and David, they always marked and gave feedbacks to my weekly tests/essays patiently. Especially thanks to my piano teacher Jewele, she made every lesson enjoyable, gave me lots of confidence and technical improvements, and got me more involved in music. I can't imagine a better music school than Ware. The experience of studying here will be my precious memory.

My son did Advanced Rudiments exam back in August 2016, so forgot about most of the materials when deciding to take Harmony Level 9 at Mr. Ware's class in September 2019. The concepts in Harmony L9 seems extremely challenging and the group lessons requires exceptional self regulation and motivations. My son was far behind the curriculum when the December exam was near, so in addition to group lessons, I put him to Mr. Ware's private lessons. Mr. Ware excellent teaching eventually made the comprehensive materials comprehended. For a kid at 12 years-old at piano level 8, harmony L9 requires much deeper understanding than being able to play piano pieces, thanks to Mr. Ware's unique teaching method, he got 85 in December Harmony L9 exam. I would highly recommend kids at similar level to take group plus private lessons with Mr. Ware. It means success in RCM harmony exams.

I have studied in this school for more than a year, and it really helps me a lot. I like Peter and Lynn's teaching styles. When I asked questions after the class, they all replied me very quickly and gives me useful feedbacks. The teachers are diligent in every classes. From afraid to have harmony and history classes at the beginning to enjoying to have classes now, the teachers has helped me a lot. I passed all the exams and I'm satisfied with the results.

Peter and Lynn are some of the best music teachers I have ever had. They make harmony and history much easier to understand and their textbooks prepare you well for the exams. Do not hesitate coming to their music school!

I have been taking piano lessons with Dr. David Swan for the last four years and he has been so, so helpful. Especially this year with my ARCT exam, I was kind of overwhelmed with the short deadline, higher expectations, and balancing my other commitments.He was very accommodating in arranging extra lessons and taking all the measures in making sure I was understanding a piece to the best of my ability, through both critical feedback and encouragement. Overall, I think he's just a really nice person who loves music, and his teaching is very professional and enriching but also light hearted enough for someone who isn't necessarily looking to make piano a career (me). The practice opportunities and mini concerts with Peter and him were also really helpful , and I honestly think those final weeks were what made my exam.I took all my theory lessons from rudiments to ARCT analysis at Ware Academy, with Lynn, Peter, Paul, and David. To be honest, harmony is not a particular love of mine... but they teach it in a way that is just methodological enough while also having this sort of love/passion for it that is really quite uplifting, that it becomes doable (and I've happily completed my diploma :) I won't say I miss harmony, but it definitely trains a sort of work ethic that is really valuable for the future as well, and I kind of see now how it is essential in your understanding of music. Lynn is my daughter L8 Theory teacher. Since we do not live in Toronto. So my daughter’s theory classes are all online. Lynn is a very good theory teacher, She has a very good and unique teaching method, so that my daughter can easily understand music theory. When encountering topics that are difficult for my daughter to understand, she always explained it step by step patiently until she understood it. My daughter had one-hour classes once a week. After each class, she would send my daughter electronic tests on the topic of this week. Every time my daughter finished the tests and sent it to Lynn, she would patiently correct it and find out my daughter's mistakes.And the L5-L8 Music Theory textbook written by Peter is a super useful music theory textbook. The book covers all the theories that need to be learned. There are also exercises. After completing the exercises in the book, you can evaluate the effect of each topic.My daughter completed the L8 theory online exam last week. She is very satisfied with her results.Thank you Lynn for being patient with my daughter in class for a few months. Lynn is an excellent music theory teacher. I highly recommend her.
