McCall Lake Off Leash Dog Park

Pros: spacious, good amount of trees and open area for the dogs to run aroundCons: loud traffic next to highway, not fully fenced

Few weeks ago, during rush hour ( close to 4 pm -see pic of Deerfoot ). I ended up at McCall off leash dog area.This area is only available on Google map for directions. I have tried several apps/maps but it only shows McCall golf course.This site is more like a crime scene than actually a dog park. No signs regarding the name of the dog park or map or any other helpful information ( I have a feeling it might be torn down by the people who are basically taking the control of this site. See pics for so many torn down parking signs ).There was no other furry friends or any other patrons out for walk. But, there were few signs up (see in pics) regarding not dumping garbage and informing authorities.All the signs made me uncomfortable but my fur baby she was having a great time because she likes to explore and try to find things which she can try to bring it to me and this area was a garbage galore ( see pics) for her. Just because of her I decided to take a look around (see pic & vid). This whole site has been used by people who steal from businesses in the area. Mainly from Value Village located on 34th St. NE.It’s my guesstimation by looking at all the price tags of VV. There was a tent, which was fully packed up with lot of miscellaneous items and a shopping cart beside tent was also full. After noticing that tent, I was practically running towards my car and trying to see if I can find any human being but no luck. After getting into my car. I didn’t miss a single second to drive away from that site. My assumption is that, all the stolen item from Value Village or businesses near by. They get re-packed and then they get on Internet for sale sites like Kijiji or Facebook market or in person sale.I noticed some patrons have mentioned about this place being a little eerie or scary. After my unplanned visit, I would totally agree with all those patrons.It’s definitely not a safe place for people to go after dark or late night. Plus, I wouldn’t let kids, even teenagers go around this area even in a bright daylight.

There is no dog park.. only carts and needles around. Bad place for you to be!!

Good off leash dog park with interesting breaks in vegetation. Good for a quick loop. Dogs get a good variety of areas to explore at this park.

Nice off-leash dog park hidden in the trees and shrubbery. A bit of a climb having went in the south side (I presume) but found benches and a nice fence to keep critters from Deerfoot Trail. Busy this time of day. Great view of downtown. I wasn’t ready for steep terrain or we could have stayed longer. A nice big open grassy area worked well. Decent dirt trail but a bit narrow off the beaten path. Garbage bin curb-side. Enter from the paths before it if heading southbound.

The best Salisbury steak in town. Would highly recommend.

I was pleasantly surprised with this dog park. There were no other dogs there when I was there but it’s a nice walk through the trees.

The park is beautiful, and the paths are amazing. My dog loves coming to this specific park for the amount of space and forestry.The city should get in there to do a fall cleaning though.

Not too busy with a fence along Deerfoot. A little noisy as expected beside the highway, but lots of trees for the pup to run around.

Park is a bit lonely on the weekends and attracts the wrong crowd. Not fenced
