Such an awesome experience, I have a 3 year old large breed dog that was having some aggression issues with confined places and barrier reactivity to the point he was stalking people and biting/nipping.We sent him for the 3 week boarding program and I couldn’t be happier. He was a completely different dog and I couldn’t believe the difference. Be prepared to put lots of time into the training outside of the program in order for it to be effective.Really happy with the outcome, thank you!

Sam and Andrew at Blackhill Dog Co worked wonders with my bullterrier mix Rosie. Prior to her stay with them her recall was non existent as was her obedience. She now responds to my commands and is generally a much calmer dog. Walks on leash no longer result in her tripping me and pulling my shoulder out of its socket! Sam explained why some tools are better than others for specific breeds in such a way as to put my mind at rest about any concerns I may have had. Their communication during the month long process was great, complete with video updates and Andrew spent enough time with me and Rosie at pick up to ensure that I was comfortable with continuing her training at home.If you are considering a board and train program for your dog I highly recommend them!

Black Hill Dog Company is an awesome organization. Their knowledge of dog phases/stages of development, complimented with specific training strategies is truly beneficial for those that want a well behaved family pet. Yes it is work for the dog owner, but the results will result in years of a family fur baby that you will be proud of.

It was amazing working with black hill dog company! I brought my 6 year old Rottweiler cross Roxy. She was becoming reactive to people and other dogs all of a sudden. I also brought my 1 year old Staffordshire terrier Biggie to get help in basic training. With Roxy being reactive and trying to train Biggie with basic commands at the same time walks and being in public was difficult.Roxy & Biggie took part in the 5 week training program where each dog worked individually with Sam and Andrew on some different and some of the same skills. We finished training a couple weeks ago and both of them have learnt so much and so have I, it has been an awesome experience!We went to a swap meet a couple weekends ago and took them both. There was no reacting to dogs or people and both of them listened so well. I was astounded! I am so beyond thankful for finding black hill dog company and working with both Sam and Andrew. We have 2 dogs, one is 2.5yrs and the other now almost 8 months, my husband and I are newer to Prince Edward County and faced the dilemma of who would care for our boys while away on a family holiday, our kids or very close friends have always done it and never would we consider a dog training & boarding facility. As we were out in the community the name Sam and her husband Andrew from Black Hill kept coming up, people would tell us you just have to go, once you meet them you will know it’s the best place. For the very first time we have just come back from leaving our boys for 12 days at Black Hill Dog Co.They were more than happy to let us do an initial trial day board followed by an overnight stay for 24hrs before heading away to ensure they would do ok.Sam was amazing and so passionate about her work with dogs. She would provideupdates with pics or videos with a detaileddescription on how they were both settling in. I was able to relax and feel happy about how our two were spending their days.They were loved and very well cared for and happy to have that daily social connection with other pups along with a daily routine that they both settled into and enjoyed.I would highly recommend Black Hill Dog Company and just wish I could rate them higher than 5 StarsThank you again Sam & Andrew for everything, H & M will be back soon

I have a mastiff cross who is a spoiled handful! He struggles with reactivity around EVERYTHING among other things. My vet recommended Sam and Andrew at Black Hill given their experience with Dobermans and their training approaches. We completed the 5 week training with insane improvements with leash walking and recall as well as introducing place strategies. His overall socialization and engagement with other people is coming along! He loves Sam! He is working on his socialization with other dogs through the Social Club and Sam and Andrew (and helpers) are being very patient with him. They are also willing to offer helpful tips and strategies around getting your $&@: together as a dog owner!

When your four legged canine companion needs some help to become the best pup they can be...you call Black Hill.The Black Hill team has supplied us (and our pup Alakay) with the tools we need to be the best family members for each other.Our journey started with a puppy. Adopting a mature dog was always in the intent (stave off the puppy years), but we of course were smitten with a little snowball husky/golden retriever mix and before we knew it our little 8 week old polar bear was bouncing around the house, experiencing everything the big world had to offer. As dog owners our entire life (including raising puppies) we thought, we can handle this!!!We quickly enrolled in puppy socializing classes and basic obedience, in order to try and mitigate any undesirable behaviours out of the gate, and things went very well. We had a fun loving, energetic pup who had no aggressive tendencies and was adapting to family life quickly. His only quirks were (as a pulling breed) he always wanted to lead US on walks, and was very bouncy" when meeting new people and pups. He needed some manners.We worked with him the way we knew how

My beautiful and amazing canine friend has become someone I can enjoy going places with; I can trust that he'll come when he's called, that he won't jump up on people and upset them, that he won't drag and yank me around when he's on a leash, that he'll behave reliably on command. I am beyond grateful! And so is my dog!

Wish I could give 10 stars!!! When it comes to breeding quality pups, black hill dog company does it best! I got my European doberman from them after years of searching for the right pup, & it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Sam has been there for me through every phase of puppy hood & has always been there to give me her much needed advice.For being a first time dog owner, Sam made the transition so easy & so comfortable for me & my pup. They’re as best as it gets for breeders. I’m forever thankful I found them. My dobies temperament is amazing & he is the sweetest most loving goofball there is.

Where do I even begin?! We rescued Charli (Malinois Shepherd) when she was 11 months old, we were her second family and she came with a pile of issues. Slowly we broke down the wall of trust for Charli and she quickly became the sweetest girl, with terrible leash manors. We found out we were expecting and Charli became possessive over me. We did our research and met Sam and our lives are forever changed. Charli went for their 3 week Board and Train program and came back a completely different dog. Sam and Andrew are the most amazing, personable and understanding people out there. They truly made us feel at home and not alone with our “bad dog”, they started from the beginning and worked through all of Charlis bad habits. Charli now shows very minimal leash aggression, she walks and doesn’t try to pull your arm out of the socket. She’s more calm and attentive in our house with our 3 year old daughter. She’s truly the dog we knew she could be with the proper training. Charlis been home for 2 days now and Sam still texts to check in and is there for any questions or concerns. I HIGHLY recommend Black Hill Dog Company for any and every pet needs ❤️
