Absolutely a proper place to have drinks with friends or an intimate experience if you want to impress your date. Fireplace, proper bartending and atmosphere.

So close to my house, and the live music is just world class. No cover, good food, and good bar. What more could you ask?

Beautiful location, beautiful music and great food for a decent price. My only complaint is - the pizzas were all vegetarian.. or close. We tried the only meat choice Bacon and Onions" and I could barely find Bacon on the pizza. Would have been 5 star if they had a pepperoni pizza. Add all the artsy upscale toppings you like

This hotel bar is really fancy looking inside, in a classy way. Like, stonework and paintings. The bartender is skilled and theres probably 100 bottles of liquor. Early closing time dosent bother me, I live down the street and its the only bar within walking distance in the winter

Home Smith Bar is a comfortable, classy oasis. Stone and dark wood, club chairs, fire. A justifiable extravagance after a healthy stroll along the Humber. Arrangements since the pandemic include a more limited menu and no jazz yet. But the food is good and the drinks are excellent. A very pleasant spot.Update March 2022: Yep. Still.

All the finger food menu items were delicious, especially the Sweet Potato Fries which had just the right amount of crispiness.Staff was super friendly. It was a Thursday night which seems to be a regular Jazz multi performer jam. The entertainment as great, although I wasn’t expecting it, and was trying to talk business. It seemed to draw a warm crowd who clapped in appreciation.Comfy seating, warm atmosphere was just what we needed on this bitter cold day.

For years The Home Smith Bar was our “local”. I normally don’t give negative reviews, but I feel obliged to update the information about this venue. While the listing still gives the impression that there is live music, there is not. Present management abandoned the years long tradition of live music. I don’t know why. A mistake I think. This was one of Toronto’s iconic jazz venues. No more. There is effectively no food. Sad excuses for cheese boards and charcuterie. The pizzas remain a possibility. Gone are steak frites, sweet potato fries and everything else from the old menu. The wine selection has totally changed but they didn’t change the wine list so you have no clue what will actually arrive. and bottles were arriving already open so any chance to turn them down was eliminatedAnd lastly we had the worst martinis ever. Mostly ice water. How do you screw up a martini? They managed.I feel bad writing this, but I have loved the Home Smith for years and it’s sad to see it reduced to a mediocre hotel lobby bar.

What a stylish, entertaining but also so relaxing place we found! The lovely live jazz creates a very enjoyable atmosphere, perfect way to start or spend your weekend. No reservation needed, but you need to be early in order to find a good table. Some shared tables available also. They serve a full course menu. Everything was delicious. We are becoming regulars for sure!

I arrived at 7 PM for a 7:30 performance, and got one of the last tables available. But others freed up fairly regularly throughout the night. The service was wonderful, the food was delicious. I ordered the charcuterie board and enjoyed the variety of cheeses and vegetables. The venue is perfect. It’s antique and homey without feeling cheap or cramped. Its designed to be comfortable; made for sitting, and eating slowly, and enjoying good music. There’s no rush to leave once you’re done your food, and no matter where you sit, you are close to the band and feel connected. The whole vibe is different from other jazz bars I’ve frequented - it’s familiar and yet respectful. People listen carefully and talk quietly. There’s an air of happiness and enjoyment.I have lived around the corner for decades and often thought of visiting. Now that I know the hidden quality that exists here, I will definitely be back!
