Tanuki is a small, cozy restaurant with attentive and positive staff, who are dedicated to serving tasty food and drinks!I went there a few times and their vibe and food are amazing, with unique Japanese fusion flavours. They have a rotating brunch menu, check out their socials to find out what's new! At times, their savoury dishes are slightly under seasoned, but it doesn't ruin the dish.The seating area is tight; so it may feel cramped for some especially when it's busy.I highly recommend this place! There's plenty of shopping around the area too.

Great Japanese fusion food.Around $20/dish but good portion.Weekday lunch special comes with a drink.I don't typically like pesto sauce, but this one has a little spicy twist, which makes the dish very taste.Will go back again.

One of our new favourites! Delicious food and great service. They don't take reservations but we went on a Friday night at around 6pm and didn't need to wait for a table so it wasn't an issue. Will definitely go again!

The restaurant was not big but feel cozy. the service was very excellent. The taro chips were very thin and so yummy. All food are very tasty. Strong recommendation: the mackerel fish was soft and yummy with dipping sauce. The chicken and pork were deep fried. If you like sweet, those dishes are right for you. Also kids loves them too. At the end, kid wants to eat vanilla ice cream! Overall, it was great visiting.

Perhaps this place is better on weekdays or for dinner, but my brunch experience here was absolutely terrible.After waiting for over 5 minutes. I had to ask couple times to get the server to finally come to the table to get our order. (we were the only customer aside from another table that was already finished eating).Although we were the only customer waiting to be served, it took over 30minutes for our foods to come out. At most places small plates and knives would be provided along with a shareable dish, but that wasn't the case here.Taste wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't worth the price they charged. Their menus are creative but I feel like they need to get the taste down first.Coffee was too light and sweet. Felt like I was drinking coffee flavored milk rather than a real coffee.

Tanuki IS THAT RESTAURANT. With a rotating menu and a stellar mainstay menu too, Tanuki is a place that you don't want to miss. We had a number of different items across both their brunch and main menu and were not disappointed. The pancakes were unbelievable, the karaage was delicious, the pig knuckle was delectable. Everything here is a must try.

I have been back to this restaurant for brunch at least 4 or 5 times since my friend first told me about it. This hidden gem in Markham offers a weekly rotating brunch menu which offers a variety of breakfast options including different pancakes and eggs benny every week. They always have great service and everything I've ordered so far has been delicious and flavorful. They have a cute little patio in the summer and it's dog friendly too. I have been bringing a lot of my friends and family to this place and they've all loved it. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

The food here never disappoints! Love the fusion and enjoy their new menu every now and then. We would have enjoy it more before they increase the price but I guess that’s like everywhere else. Monday $1 oyster is another reason of coming here. I love their wide selection of sake
