Our recent afternoon tea experience at the Royal Stewart Dining room was an utter disappointment. The food was meh at best and price per person was unjustifiably high. I expected to pay a premium for a memorable afternoon tea, but what we received was far from deserving of the price tag. It felt like a complete waste of hard-earned money. Overall it left my family throughly dismayed and unsatisfied.

Overall very lackluster. The restaurant itself was dark, dingy, and antiquated. Took an 1.5 hours to get our meal. We got the goat cheese appetizer and beef tenderloin. The goat cheese was off in flavor, the lemon clashed with the other flavors. The tenderloins were a good representation of the restaurant - lackluster. The meat was cooked as ordered but were unseasoned and lacked flavor.Certainly not terrible, certainly not good. Would not go back, would not recommend.

Came in for high tea today an hour before the reservation. Asked if we could be sat early but no worries if not we would just head into town, hostess assured us we could get in soon, so we sat in the lobby. After an hour of waiting I needed to go up and remind the staff I was still there and it was now my reservation time. Once seated was still ignored by staff for 30 minutes as tables who got seated way after us were already eating. After an hour we got our high tea which was ok but not worth any of the hassle. Neither the hostess or the waitress seemed to enjoy anything about their role.

My wife and I stayed for two nights ahead of the long weekend. Service and atmosphere were mainly good. Our last meals were at the hotel and the last one in particular being at lunch for the afternoon tea experience in the Royal Stewart Dining Room.Thirty minutes later I had stomach pain and needed to use the washroom but I brushed this off as a stomach ache.Four hours after when we had returned home, I felt unwell, fever-ish, cold sweats, no appetite and unable to keep anything down. This continued for two days.I had to think back and noticed the only thing I ate that my wife did not was the smoked salmon and dill sandwiches (she does not eat seafood).I wanted to give this a higher score but the last time I was this unwell was from eating at a McDonald’s 7 years ago. The difference is this meal cost me ten times as much.

We came for dinner as a walk-in and were able to be seated fairly quickly. I had the immense pleasure of enjoying the BC Sablefish Chowder, and I highly recommend you do too. The presentation was spectacular, and the flavor superb. This dish did not disappoint. Braised Alberta Bison Stroganoff, not so good. The gherkins are not needed in this dish. The sour cream is just weird. We would not recommend this dish. Enjoyed Potato Leek Croquettes for our appetizer, and we highly recommend it. Dessert, we indulged and had sorbet. How lite, refreshing, cooling. It was a perfect end. The restaurant itself we found to be stuffy and warm. The drinks did not disappoint. Ask for a raspberry espresso martini. Our service was on point.

Afternoon tea is one of my favourite things to do and something that I would often do growing up and living in Vancouver. I’ve been to all the afternoon tea salons in greater Van. We’ve been living in Calgary the last few years and with our kids busy soccer schedule I haven’t been able to go. Since my friend was visiting and we would be in Waterton we decided it would be a perfect time to go. I was so disappointed and honestly wish I’d save the time and money and got a waffle from Waffleton. The location and view was definitely the best part of this tea. The scones and clotted cream were delicious, the rest was ok. I was disappointed that the tea was just a tea bag in a lacklustre cup, and the sugar and cream was just presented how you would find at any greasy diner. The service was ok, nothing special, nothing bad. Definitely won’t go again, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. $100 spent on a meh experience and I still had to pay $10 for parking.

My husband and I went here on the last day of our honeymoon for high tea. We told the server this and we shortly chatted. It then took her 40 minutes to take our tea order and bring us hot water. We watched as all of the tables around us had their drink orders taken and got their high tea snacks while we sat there even though we were there before them. After a full hour we finally got our food. Terrible service. Not to mention the hostess behaved as though us being there was a burden to her. Not worth it! Food was also mediocre at best.

2 of the 5 dishes were pretty good (beef tartar and trout were good). Our water was not refilled at all, until we were so thirsty that we had to wave to the waiters a couple times… We were seated at a table with almost no view at all - very disappointing, particularly that I had specified in my reservation that it was a date night and that I wanted to impress my date.
