Le Zèbre Rouge

I brought my bike for a regular maintenance after many years of not riding it. The service was fast and professional and the bike seems fine. The price is in the same range as other locations but I wanted to encourage a good cause at the Zèbre Rouge in Vaudreuil. (I also happen to notice they are respecting COVID regulations as well.)

I never expected a bad experience. Last Saturday I took my folding bicycle, which appears to be vintage and rare, in for repairs. A brake cable had fallen off and one brake lever needed to be replaced.Because the replacement part would not be equivalent, the young man I placed the order with suggested that I replace both brake levers so that they would match. I knew the replacement parts would be inferior to my originals (chrome, replacement value at least $20 U.S.) so I asked that they keep my old brake levers when they did the repair. I repeated this three or four times.I didn't check the work order. Had I looked, I would have seen that my request was not noted at all on the page. When I picked up my bicycle, the old parts I asked them to keep were nowhere to be found.I asked where they were and they said they were gone. Apparently the boss did my repair and no one told him I wanted to keep the original chrome brake levers, which matched my bike.I was pretty upset when they told me they had been taken to scrap yard, sold for scrap metal. I asked that they call their boss. They refused. I asked for the name of the scrap yard, they refused.The young man insisted it was human error, a miscommunication. I pointed out that he had taken my order and it was his responsibility as the person taking the order to ensure that the message was passed along. I asked him what he was going to do about it. I pointed out that had this been a car dealership and someone has sent parts of an antique car off for scrap metal, they would be sued.They held a meeting the morning after I picked up the bike to discuss my case. When a young man phoned me, he kept calling me by my first name (I had asked them to stop calling me ma'am), which irritated me greatly. He kept repeating the human error line. They offered me $10 but said I'd have to go there to pick it up.I don't drive and getting to their locale from my house takes at least an hour. I didn't feel like going back. The conversation ended badly.When I spoke to a man on their board of directors he asked me if I knew what kind of business I was dealing with. These people have problems

Dropped off my damaged bike to them, the young man even helped me carry it from my van. Was looking around for another used bike but nothing suit me. He then said come back on Sat between 10am to 4pm coz there will be more bikes then. Would love to support them!

I am restoring an old bike, at Le Zèbre Rouge I found a hard to find part for only $3!The staff I spoke to were super friendly and accommodating. I would definitely come back here in future for parts and stuff.Really nice bike repair area, each station had ample space, tools were nearly organized, mechanics looked like they knew what they were doing. I would not hesitate to bring my bikes here for routine service.

They fixed my bike on the spot in 15 minutes when the other shops in the area wouldn't even look at it. Great service and very friendly!

Went to 4 bicycle repair stores and was unable to have my bicycle repaired. Arrived at Zèbre Rouge and had my bicycle repaired in under 30 minutes. Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable and efficient. Definitely a recommend for anyone looking for affordable prices and quality repair.
