Yee Hong is an unsafe and disrespectful facility! Please do not bring your loved ones here.

This place is so great and IMMACULATE for seniors to live there. We feel so secure and comfortable to have our folk stay there. ALL THE STAFF ARE SO FRIENDLY N PROFESSIONAL, AND SO CARING. We feel very bless to have these staff to look after our folk and others. HIGH FIVE TO THEM ALL AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THEIR KINDNESS AND CARING FOR OTHERS.

From what I can tell during visits, the staff are extremely friendly and treat their residents with respect. Compared to Tyndall Senior's Village on Tomken and Eglinton, this place is 8 times better (the latter was subjected to penalization by Ontario for violations which included abuse). There may be a language barrier here however, the staff here are human beings and will treat anyone with the dignity that the patients deserve and their loved ones expect.Since this is a Chinese Institution, it is like a second home for the patients here as they can see people of a similar culture.Obviously, there are improvements that can be made such as a greater variety of food... when I visit during dinner hours, Grandma only eats mushy stuff! It may be because of her teeth...Or they can somehow provide greater overall hygienic care for residents such as daily brushing for those who are not able to do so.Update: During COVID-19, the Yee Hong Centre was able to limit the amount of cases to ONE staff. The job they have done to keep the residents and their families secure and well is commendable and much appreciated.

While Yeehong offers a Chinese facility for those of the language, it is understaffed and uncareful with patients. Employees seem to nonchalantly do work and do not exert any effort with care for the patients. In my case, my grandma is not in the greatest condition with many obligations required to have such sustainability every day, for example she requires a diaper as she can no longer properly use her urinary system and as a result when the personal support workers change her, it is done extremely rough and in a uncomfortable manner for her with multiple complaints. The PSW workers do not work in her best interest as a care facility. With multiple floors and lots of patients with need care, it is extremely understaffed as there usually only 1-3 people PER floor helping with 50+ patients and times where there is nobody at the reception desk to open the door. For paying close to $3000 there should be high expectations for the centre and should not be any concerns whatsoever but we are left constantly wondering and worried about her safety. We always have a family member there everyday to find ourselves doing most of the work rather than the employees. My grandma is in critical condition and asks for help in terms of needs such as hydration etc and does not receive much, if at all when she is in desperate need. They have removed the call button beside the bed so she can not call for help, in no situation ever should that be tolerable. If she complains to us about the work they do, it speaks to the level of care they provide for patients who pay for a service. In no case whatsoever is it acceptable to allow people who are servicing elderly people of care to be treated in such a bad manner as the time we spent at Yee Hong Centre. The people there leave the safety of the patients second in priorities and have zero respect. This was to provide future individuals who wish to put a loved one in the care of others especially when you know you can't always look out for them but in this case for this facility.

My grandma spent many years here under the professional care of many dedicated people.It was probably the most fulfilling time during the latter part of her life. She was not able to live alone, required supervision but still had the independence to participate (or not) in events and activities at this beautiful facility.I visited her weekly and she appreciated family dropping in. We had great discussions together and at 90+ years young, she was still very sharp and focused.On Sunday’s, a Christian faith service would be held and she was pleased to get a boost for the week.In my Grandma’s memory, it is with extreme gratitude that I write this review in support of this Yee Hong Centre and its wonderful staff!
